What to expect from Apple's March 2016 event: iPhone 5se, iPad Air 3, and... one more thing?

It’s been a couple of months since Apple last held a keynote, and there’s a pretty high chance that Cupertino’s next one will take place in mid-March. Yes, that’s what we heard in the end of January, and we have all the reasons to believe that the rumor mill is correct this time.
It seems that the event will take place in the week that starts March 14, with the rumor mill claiming that the event will be held on March 15. As a reminder, Apple held a “Spring Forward” keynote back on March 9, 2015, where it announced additional details about its first wearable, the Apple … – Source

Amazon Games launches free game engine with native Twitch integration

Amazon just announced a new contender in the game engine market: Amazon Lumberyard. Currently in beta, this free, cross-platform 3D engine (with visuals based on CryEngine) features the usual contingent of promises: the ability to build beautiful worlds, make realistic characters, and create “stunning real-time effects.” But there’s also something else. Lumberyard, it seems, is all about connectivity.

According to Amazon, developers will be able to connect their games to “the vast compute and storage of AWS Cloud,” add cloud-connected features in “minutes” with the help of the drag-and-drop graphical user interface, and engage fans on Twitch.

The last bit is obviously the most interesting. There’s a “Twitch Chatplay” feature that lets the game interact with viewers in real-time, meaning spectators might be able to vote on outcomes or gift power-ups to the broadcasters. Rather like Twitch Plays Pokemon, one might imagine. Amazon Lumberyard also includes a Twitch JoinIn feature that will allow for multiplayer games where Twitch broadcasters can instantly invite viewers to join them side-by-side in a session.

Google launches flood alerts feature in India

Google has just announced that it’s introducing its flood alerts feature in India. The feature will be available through Google Public Alerts, which is basically a platform that the company uses for disseminating emergency messages.

Clicking on an alert will display related details such as a map, expected timeline, as well as tips on how to stay safe.

“Using data provided by the Central Water Commission (CWC), users can now find flood alerts with river level information for more than 170 areas in which the CWC has active observation stations,” the Mountain View, California-based company said in a blog post.

Accessible through both Desktop and mobile, these alerts will be available on the company’s web search, Google Maps, Google Now cards in the Google app, as well as on the Public Alerts…

Future's 'EVOL': 'Love' has nothing to do with it

Future has released an unparalleled amount of material in the past two years, and most of it has been about codeine, promethazine, empty sex, revenge sex, hate sex, more codeine and more promethazine. And we’re still listening.

What’s always pulled us in has been the way he does it — the way he seems to haphazardly throw out lines yet still sound poetic, the way his words seem to trip over themselves but are clever and sharp. In recent releases it’s an underlying feeling that Future is in on all of it — lines about his countless sexual conquests are delivered with, yes, braggadocio, but also bitterness and at times self-loathing. …

'Disappointed' Mark Zuckerberg responds to India's ban on Facebook's Basics service

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has responded to the news that India’s telecom regulator has banned the company’s Free Basics program.

Free Basics, which began as part of Facebook’s Internet.org project, allowed subscribers to Reliance — the biggest telecom in India — free access to Internet services.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Zuckerberg wrote that “while we’re disappointed with today’s decision, I want to personally communicate that we are committed to keep working to break down barriers to connectivity in India and around the world.”

Firewatch review: Getting lost in the remote wilderness and loving it

In most games, you’d expect this lake to hide a hideous monster you have to kill. Not in Firewatch…

I’m not a big fan of getting lost… mainly because I do it so often. In the real world, if I’m not being actively guided by a GPS voice or a human navigator, I generally end up hopelessly off course. In games (especially first-person games), I usually need a detailed mini-map or a big, flashing arrow pointing me in precisely the direction I need to go. Otherwise, I tend to meander around the game world, trying in vain to remember which paths I’ve already tried and which landmarks I’ve already seen.

Yet I didn’t really mind getting lost in Firewatch. In fact, by the time I made it to the game’s somewhat abrupt end, I found myself wishing I’d had more opportunities to get lost in its detailed, well-built wilderness.

Getting lost is incredibly easy in Firewatch’s intimate sliver of national forest. Instead of a mini-map or a bright flashing arrow, protagonist Henry gets a compass and a less-than-detailed paper map that he has to physically hold in front of him to even see where he is (you can turn off the flashing red dot that pinpoints your location on the map if you want to really test your navigation abilities).
