Forget chilling in her crib, this baby is going to travel the world.

On Aug. 14, a woman gave birth while on a Cebu Pacific plane, four hours into a flight from Dubai to Manila. In celebration of the birth, the Philippines airline gifted the baby girl, named Haven, 1 million air mile points.

Edward Snowden: Equation Group hack is a warning from Russia to the U.S.

A hacking group is claiming it obtained tools that reveal the digital fingerprint of the National Security Agency (NSA). If this turns out to be true, the U.S. security organization’s involvement in cyberattacks across the world could be exposed.

Former NSA employee and current whistleblower Edward Snowden took to Twitter on Tuesday to comment on the recent hack of the Equation Group — a highly sophisticated hacking group widely believed to be linked to the NSA — by the hacking group Shadow Brokers.

LG unveils two battery-powered projectors

Drive-in theaters may be mostly dead, but LG’s new battery-powered projectors will keep the spirit of cinema on the go alive.

Both projectors have batteries that last up to 2 and a half hours and put out a 720p image. They take input from an MHL-enabled HDMI port, wireless screen sharing (Miracast or WiDi) and play media themselves from storage hooked up to the USB port.

The LG PH450U is an Ultra Short Throw projector. What that means is that you can put it right up against the wall – just 7.4cm/2.9″ away – and it will create a 40″ image. This grows to 80″ at 33cm/13″.

Late last month, Microsoft finally commented on the Surface Pro 3 battery degradation issue, saying that the problem is not related to battery cells, and can be addressed via a software update. However, the company hasn’t rolled out a fix yet.

Replying to a user query on Twitter earlier this week, Brian Hall, General Manager for Surface, said that they have fixed the problem at their end but need “a little more time” to do some “depth testing.”

The band on McDonald’s Step-It tracker, which was included in Happy Meals in the U.S. and Canada, apparently irritated the skin of some users and has led to a recall initiated by the company on Wednesday.

The small, plastic pedometer was touted by the company as a way to get kids active.

“We are voluntarily removing the Step It! Activity Band Happy Meal toys in our restaurants in our United States and Canadian markets,” Terri Hickey, a spokesperson for McDonald’s, told Mashable. “It will no longer be offered as part of our Happy Meals. We have taken this swift and voluntary step after receiving limited reports of potential skin irritations that may be associated from wearing the band.” …

Apple's decision to offer 256GB iPhone models this year leads to a tight market for flash memory

Demand for NAND flash memory chips is said to be so strong that suppliers are able to raise prices. Vendors are saying that supply is being swamped by demand. Price hikes have been made by NAND flash producers such as Samsung and SK Hynix. Distributors are buying up as much inventory as they can. Industry sources see prices rising until the fourth quarter of 2016, which starts October 1st.

The industry is heavily dependent on Apple’s purchasing of the component in determining whether supply and demand of NAND flash chips are in balance, or favoring one side over the other. For example, Apple’s … – Source
