Why You Should Keep Your Coffee Beans in the Fridge

Many of us keep our coffee beans in the fridge or freezer to keep them fresh, but a new study suggests there’s added benefit to this practice: more flavorful coffee.

If we get an Edge and a normal Galaxy Note 7, which one would you prefer? (poll results)

A few days ago, we received an allegedly official teaser for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. What was interesting about it, other than it teasing one of the most anxiously anticipated releases of the year, is that it suggested we may be getting an ‘Edge’ variant of the new phablet. As a quick reminder, after introducing the Galaxy Note Edge alongside the Galaxy Note 4 almost two years ago, Samsung then brought just a normal, flat Galaxy Note 5.
Of course, unlike the Galaxy S6 edge and S7 edge, and all the other S-series ‘edge’ variants, the Note Edge featured a wider ‘edge’ display, … – Source

Alleged image of the Apple iPhone 7 front panel reveals touch-sensitive home button?

An image, allegedly of the Apple iPhone 7 front panel, shows off something new about the home button. Instead of the physical button that iPhone users press to get back to the home screen, or to verify a fingerprint using Touch ID, a touch-sensitive button appears in its place. We can see that this button no longer sports the circular metal ring found on the handset ever since the Apple iPhone 5s was introduced.

While this new button doesn’t actually depress, users will tap and hold to call for Siri, and double tap to see which apps they have open. This could be the final step before the … – Source

Verizon's Floridia based subscribers suffer through two and a half hours without service

The nation’s largest carrier apparent;y forgot that there are 50 states as service in some areas of Florida came to a screeching halt this afternoon. The strange thing about the outage is that there were situations in a single household where a husband found his phone out of service while the wife’s phone worked perfectly. The Verizon technical support crew that we spoke with were basically dumbfounded by this activity.

The outage covered the entire state from the panhandle to South Florida. While some were able to send and receive texts, the vast majority were unable to make or take phone … – Source

RAW shooting, a harsher Gatekeeper, and more obscure macOS and iOS 10 changes

When Apple announced iOS 10 and macOS Sierra at its WWDC keynote yesterday, it hit most of the high notes. Big user-facing features like the Siri API on iOS and Siri on the Mac, the revamped Messages app, Universal Clipboard, and tweaks to Photos and Apple Music got stage time, but as the company said, there was more stuff that didn’t get any attention.

Our previews and reviews of the beta and final versions of the OSes will cover all of those features and lots of the smaller, less notable tweaks to Apple’s built-in apps, but after a few hours of digging through the developer documentation we’ve also unearthed a few neat under-the-hood tweaks in both Sierra and iOS 10.

Can someone check the Mac App Store’s pulse? I’m worried about it.

Why Apple isn't talking about Virtual Reality just yet

SAN FRANCISCO — Anyone who was at Apple’s 2016 World Wide Developers Conference keynote will tell you it was jam-packed with software platform information. But it was also notable for what it didn’t contain.

There were no hardware teases. No Apple Car mentions (aside from the Siri-CarPlay updates). And perhaps most tellingly, no Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality promises, even as just about every other major tech company invests heavily in VR and AR.

It’s easy to see why Apple didn’t mention hardware: WWDC is a software event. Even a glimpse of something new like the …

Unlocked HTC 10 units in the US get June security patch

Unlocked HTC 10 units in North America are now receiving the Android security patch for the month of June. Furthermore, the carrier-free HTC 10 is also getting a minor firmware update.

Yesterday, HTC started pushing a new software update for the unlocked version of its flagship smartphone. The update to software version 1.80.617.1 measures a little over 300MB in size, which means that you should probably download it over a Wi-Fi connection.
The June security patch has already rolled out to Nexus devices at the start of the month. Samsung was quick to update its flagships … – Source

Emilia Clarke shows that Grey Worm is not as slick as he seems on 'Game of Thrones'

Perhaps the Unsullied should stay away from pointy objects.

Emilia Clarke, a.k.a. Daenerys Targaryen, posted a throwback video of her and her warriors, Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) playing around on the Game of Thrones set.

As much of a fearsome warrior Grey Worm seems to be, he could use a little more practice with his knife twirling technique — or else Tyrion should get used to a knife in his throat.

Clarke tagged actor Michiel Huisman, who plays Daario Naharis on the show, and is much better at swinging around sharp knives. …

Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4s sees the light of day, rebranded as Vodafone Smart Platinum 7

Remember the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 4s? It was announced at MWC 2016 back in February, but then Alcatel went silent, and we didn’t hear anything about the phone for a long time. Well, it’s finally coming out in the UK, although under a different moniker. British mobile provider Vodafone has unveiled a shiny new flagship device, called the Smart Platinum 7, that’s actually a rebranded Idol 4s.
