Meizu has begun the rollout of the Flyme 5.0 update for the Meizu MX5 flagship. The new firmware won’t up your Android version, but will upgrade the Flyme launcher up to 5.0.
The firmware is available as an OTA download, but will require you about 940MB for download and even more for unpacking and installation. Currently the Meizu servers are overloaded and the download process is very slow. We suggest to wait a few hours or a day before hitting the update button.
The new Flyme 5.0 is coming out of the box with the recently announced Meizu Pro 5, but the MX5 is the first device to get it via an update. The 5.0 version brings flatter UI with refined icons and animations, better battery life and overall stability and performance improvements.
If you own a Meizu MX5 the update should become available to you soon, if not already. If you are interested in the complete change log, hit the Via link…

Could Oracle, for example, make a play for HP’s Enterprise business? One well-connected source tells us that even this may be possible.
Consider that HP sold TippingPoint to Trend Micro for $300 million and… Read More

Looks like Gionee is all set to update its Elife S series with a new handset soon. A new teaser image (see below) suggests that the Chinese company will launch the Elife S6 smartphone next month – on November 16.
Unfortunately, as of now, there isn’t much known about the device. However, reports say that it is the same handset (model number GN9007) that received TENAA certification back in August this year.
That particular smartphone is powered by a MediaTek SoC with octa-core 1.3GHz processor, and sports a 5-inch HD AMOLED display. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable internal memory, and features 13MP/8MP camera combo. Back in 2012, a class-action lawsuit was slapped against Facebook for breaching user privacy – it was alleged that the company tracked users’ Internet activity even after they log off. That particular lawsuit has now been dismissed.
Passing the verdict, the judge said the plaintiffs failed to explain exactly how they were affected by the tracking, or how it caused them “a realistic economic harm or loss.” He, however, gave them another chance, allowing them to refile their claims in a revised lawsuit.
It’s worth mentioning that the sum of $15 billion was calculated by calling on the Wiretap Act, which – according to the complaint – allows victims (estimated to be around 150 million in this case) to claim damages of as much as $100/violation/day for each Facebook user. Plaintiffs can file the revised lawsuit till November…

Electronics and cars are a tricky combination. While the advantages of systems like in-dash navigation and text-to-speech SMS reading are obvious, every extra gadget that travels with you while you’re driving has the potential to be a dangerous distraction. Google may be looking to solve that problem, at least as it applies to wearable devices like Android Wear watches. A recent patent published by the USPTO indicates that Google has developed (or at least conceptualized) a system for detecting whether a wearable user is actively driving the vehicle or merely a passenger.
