Firoz Nadiadwala to set-up state of the art film studio near Pune

Firoz NadiadwalaFiroz Nadiadwala is certainly one of the most lavish producers in tinsel town. After producing several hit films, Firoz now plans to open a state of the art film studio on the outskirts of Pune. To be called Nadiadwala Entertainment Technology (NET), the studio will be built on a 460 acre property and would also feature other amenities like a 3 star hotel, a 5 star hotel and a convention centre. This dream project of Firoz Nadiadwala is expected to cost over Rs.1000 crores. Must say the film industry is surely going to get a boost if producer Firoz Nadiadwala's dream project materialises.

Rana Daggubati replaces Abhishek Bachchan in RGV's Department

Rana DaggubatiAfter sharing screen-space with Abhishek Bachchan in Dum Maaro Dum, South actor Rana Daggubati has now gone ahead and replaced Abhishek in Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming flick Department. RGV's Department was to star Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Kangna Ranaut in lead roles but now the news is that Rana Daggubati has been signed for the part which was originally to be played by Junior Bachchan. Ramu even confirmed the same on Twitter and said, "Due to date problems to match combinations with other actors I am going ahead with Rana Daggubati instead of Abhishek Bachchan in Department." While the filmmaker cites the common date issue as the reason, one wonders what's the real reason behind Abhishek's ouster from the film? Has it got to do with the poor performance of AB Jr's last few films or has there been a fall out between Abhishek and Ramu, especially after a tabloid recently carried a story of Ramu sending out negative SMSes of Abhishek's recent release Dum Maaro Dum. Your guess is as good as ours.

Dum Maaro Dum lands up in controversy once again

Dum Maaro DumFor years, whenever one heard of 'Dum Maaro Dum', one would recollect the hippy looking Zeenat Aman singing the famous track from the super hit film Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Circa 2011... today when one hears Dum Maaro Dum, there are so many first that comes to the person's mind. On one hand, there's Deepika and her booty-licious body that gyrates to the groovy track, followed by controversies galore! Just couple of days after controversies surrounding Dum Maaro Dum settled down, the producers seem to have step into another tricky situation. This time, it's in the form of Frankfinn Institute, one of the high-flying institutes that groom youngsters for aerial jobs. Reportedly, Samir Valia, Frankfinn's Vice President said that when Fox Star Studio had approached them for having an in film branding, they were game for the same, and they shared their logos, and trademarks and other required material. But when they realized that the overall portrayal of the airhostess shown in the film does not mirror the quality and standards that they impart to their students, they refused the offer for in film branding. What then shocked Valia was the fact that the filmmakers apparently made a logo which was strikingly similar to theirs! Valia, when he filed the case, said that, his institute does not intend to stall the resale of the film or anything of that sort. But they do want to remove the tarnishing and damaging portions from the film. Further details regarding the case are awaited.

Dum Maaro Dum release preponed, premiere cancelled to preserve the suspense

Dum Maaro DumEvery effort is being made to preserve the storyline of Dum Maaro Dum from being leaked out in advance. And with the pre-paid previews happening on Thursday, the producers Fox Star have taken the historic decision of releasing a majority of the 13,00 prints on Thursday itself instead of the planned Friday release. This, in view of the long Easter weekend and the fact that Friday's cricket match would retard audience attendance on Friday. But the main reason for releasing DMD a day in advance is the fear of the plot being revealed. Confirming the preponed release Vijay Singh CEO of Fox Star says, "Yes we've decided to release around 500 prints on Thursday across the country. We'd have released all the 1300 prints on Thursday. But the single theatres are booked until Thursday for their prior film. So we're focussing on a preponed released in the multiplexes. It's very important to preserve the plot from being revealed prematurely. Hence, the preponed release and therefore no room for a premiere." The star-studded premiere of Dum Maaro Dum in Mumbai which was supposed to garner the collective glamour quotient from the entertainment industry at the disposal of all its principal crew, from producer Ramesh Sippy to the film's leading man Abhishek Bachchan to the reputed co-producers Fox-Star, has been cancelled. And with very good reason. The film's makers did not want the suspense to be given away hours before the release of the film.
Says a source, "The team was really keen on a lavish premiere. After all this is a film where the maker of Sholay, the son of the Sholay superstar and the son of the director of Sholay was involved. Also the team wanted to give Rana Daggubati a big premiere introduction in Mumbai." All these considerations were outweighed by the dangers of exposing the plot hours before release. Says a source, "When weighed against the damage that Dum Maaro Dum could suffer if the all the suspense was leaked out by SMS, as invitees at premieres often do, the premiere cancellation seemed a small sacrifice to make." Director Rohan Sippy confirms, "We decided against a premiere for many reasons. One of them was the spoilers that would be sent out during the premiere. We didn't what audiences to know what happens to which character before the film's release. So we decided it is best to avoid a premiere."
