Welcome back to Android Apps Weekly! Here are your big headlines from the last week:

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was remade for the Wii U and released this last week. In celebration, for the next few days, Link will adorn Google Maps instead of the usual pointer icon. It’s a fun way to celebrate the series, especially since it celebrated its 30 year anniversary late last month.Instagram is the latest social network to begin blocking links from other social media services. From now on, links to Snapchat and Telegram should stop functioning in Instagram posts and you’ll get a little message letting you know if you try. Most other social media sites are still accepted for now.Spotify has always used Facebook as its social network of choice and now it seems Facebook has tapped Spotify. Facebook Messenger will soon have Spotify integration. You’ll be able to access it from the menu and then share your favorite songs directly over the service. It’s a bit clunky but it’s also a new feature that’ll be updated over time. It’s true for right now that Apple Pay leads both Samsung and Android when it comes to the whole Pay thing. However, new data suggests that Samsung Pay is actually growing at a faster rate than Apple Pay. Android Pay is still growing quickly as well but no one’s quite sure yet if it’s growing faster than Apple Pay or not.Google has updated their Play Store terms to address advertisements by penalizing apps that have ads that prevent people from using the app. Along with that, there are new rules against bypassing Doze mode, against collecting user data inappropriately, and more.

Speaking out against human trafficking — and learning along the way

For years, I only thought about human trafficking on the plane. As a flight attendant, I’ve been trained to spot trafficking in the air, and it never crossed my mind where these people might end up after they stepped off the aircraft. It wasn’t like I could do anything for them once they disembarked … or so I thought.

It wasn’t until I started looking around my southern California neighborhood that I saw the potential for trafficking in my own backyard, so to speak. It’s made me take a special interest in the topic, and I was even motivated to speak to my City Council.

Telus delays Android Marshmallow updates for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Note 5

Have you been hoping to get that sweet Marshmallow update for your Samsung device on Telus? If you are sporting one of the newer handsets from the Korean manufacturer, chances are you have already seen a time table the carrier released a couple weeks ago. There was plenty in there to be happy about, but it seems celebrations will have to be pushed back a little for certain smarpthones.

Telus has updated its upgrade timeline to reflect delayed deadlines on some of Samsung’s top-tier handsets. Namely, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Instead of getting Android Marshmallow on March 9th, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5 will get the special treat on March 13th. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge users will have to wait until March 30th, as opposed to getting the OTA update on the 16th.

By the way, Samsung Galaxy S6 users are also getting this update, and the date hasn’t been pushed back. You will still have to wait longer, though, as that update is scheduled for April 13th.

Bummed? Well, at least you won’t have to wait around too long… hopefully. No reasons for the delays were specified,

When these ballerinas rehearse, they have their dogs by their side

New York’s American Ballet Theatre has a BYOD policy — Bring Your Own Dog.

The company, which is one of the ballet world’s most respected, allows its dancers to bring their dogs along to class and rehearsals. Famed dog photographer Elias Friedman—otherwise known as The Dogist — captured the dogs of ABT for a special series and recently posted them on his Instagram and Facebook pages.

“American Ballet Theatre has allowed dogs at least since the 1980s,” Susie Taylor of ABT told Mashable in an email. “The Company used to take long tours, and they would let dancers bring their dogs with them so they wouldn’t have to pay for boarding. The current dog-friendly environment grew from there.” …

Side effects of 340 days in space: burning skin and terrible basketball skills

Coming back to Earth after spending 340 days in space can be a pretty traumatic experience.

Even veteran NASA astronaut Scott Kelly — who just completed his fourth mission to space Tuesday — is having a somewhat tough time adjusting to life back on the planet after living for nearly a year in the weightlessness of the International Space Station.

“Adjusting to space is easier than adjusting to Earth for me,” Kelly said during a press conference Friday.
