Twitter cuts 336 jobs so fast an ex-employee learns fate by “no access” notice

On Tuesday, Twitter’s recently returned CEO Jack Dorsey sent a letter to all employees, notifying them that 336 jobs would be cut—around eight percent of the company’s workforce.

Shortly thereafter, at 4:35am, Dorsey confirmed the news with the following tweet:

Made some tough but necessary decisions that enable Twitter to move with greater focus and reinvest in our growth. http://t.co/BWd7EiGAF2

Dorsey linked to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing of the letter he sent his employees, which read, “We are moving forward with a restructuring of our workforce so we can put our company on a stronger path to grow. E-mails like this are usually riddled with corporate speak so I’m going to give it to you straight.”

Harry Potter gets a dark, grown-up twist in Syfy's 'The Magicians'

“I f*cking love magic.”

That sentiment, as said by actress Olivia Taylor Dudley at Saturday’s New York Comic Con panel for Syfy’s upcoming book-to-screen adaptation The Magicians, pretty much sums up how the cast and crew feel about the project.

Dudley and her five costars on the 13-episode miniseries are all passionate fans of Lev Grossman’s bestselling novels — and their enthusiasm is nothing compared to the writers and executive producers, John McNamara and Sera Gamble

The Rolling Stones' wild rider requests put younger bands to shame

LONDON — They might have crossed the globe on dozens of tours over their 53-year career, but The Rolling Stones are showing no sign of slowing down.

In fact, their recent rider requests for the Zip Code tour across North America put most younger rock bands to shame, if TMZ are to be believed.

Apparently, the band insisted on a 24-hour bar at each hotel they stayed in — “to keep the booze flowing,” the site says.

They also request blacked-out windows, presumably to keep that pesky dawn light at bay, extra butlers (of course), after hours dry cleaning and plentiful supplies of their favourite cigarettes, Marlboro Reds and Lights. They also ask for written instructions on how to use all the electronics in the room. …

Reports on fatal police shooting of Cleveland boy seen as pro-police

Two recently released reports on the legality of the fatal 2014 Cleveland police shooting of Tamir Rice—a 12-year-old black child—say nothing unexpected

The authors of both reports discuss police training, the officers’ actions, and why those actions were legal. But some have dismissed their findings as pro-police, and neither author addresses the various contradictions they themselves raise.

But before we get to that, let’s start with how the officers arrived on scene

In November 2014, Cleveland officers Frank Garmback and Tim Loehmann received a call that a person was continually pulling a gun from his waistband at a recreation center in Cleveland and drove to the location. Rice was holding a pellet gun, but the officers didn’t know that. Garmback stopped the car just a few meters from Rice, after which Loehmann stepped outside the car and fatally shot the child. Loehmann took less than two seconds to open the car door and pull the trigger …

Meet the funniest Indians on YouTube

Indian comedy on YouTube used to be dominated by Bollywood and established TV show stars. But a new breed of comics have begun producing original content, creating some of the most viral videos around with witty sketches and standup takes on everything from Bollywood clichés and melodramatic soaps to Indian politics and hyper-aggressive television news

Yet, India’s comics walk a razor-thin line between amusing and offending. In February this year, the producers of the wildly popular All India Bakchod was forced to pull down AIB Knockout, a filmed roast of Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, after protests and a state government investigation over the allegedly vulgar nature of the content. By then, though, the video had got over eight million views and AIB had become a household name. …

'Fargo' goes 'Game of Thrones' all over its Season 2 premiere
