Live Chat: Sameera Reddy December 4 at 1600 hrs IST

Sameera ReddyShe is hot, hotter, and the hottest! She is someone for whom the words like 'grace', 'poise' and 'stylish' seem like an understatement. She is none other than Sameera Reddy, the very name that symbolises perfection to the core, in whatever she does. Even though her debut romance with the camera was in the Pankaj Udhas' music video 'Aahista Aahista', her climb on the success ladder was anything but 'Aahista'. A gradual though but-obvious step, this lady took her giant leap from doing music videos to films with Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, a film that gave Bollywood its very own all-rounder, who is not just a stunner, but also can act exceptionally well. She was recently seen in the season's blockbuster De Dana Dan. Sameera Reddy will be live with you guys on December 4 at 1600 hrs IST on Bollywood Hungama's Celebrity Chat. Make sure you tune in or simply be left out.

Himesh Reshammiya will watch Paa on Friday afternoon

Himesh ReshammiyaFor decades now Himesh Reshammiya has watched every Amitabh Bachchan starrer first-day first-show. Guess where Himesh will be on Friday afternoon? Not checking out the collections of his own release Radio, but glued to Paa in a theatre close to him. And no power on earth can change a rule that Himesh has been following from his childhood of watching every Bachchan flick on the day of release. Himesh Reshammiya is going ahead with the unthinkable. He's releasing his new starrer Radio along with the Bachchans' Paa. But there's no feeling of competition. On the contrary, Himesh is a self-confessed ardent fan of the Big B and that remains unchanged. "I've always been a diehard fan of Bachchan saab... I've to watch all his films first day first show. Paa is no exception. And so what if my own film is releasing side by side?" Himesh says he's ecstatic to have his film release on the same day as Paa. "I'm honoured to be pitted against my idol Bachchan saab. I'm also scared. But I'm sure both the films will do well." Himesh wants the Big B to watch Radio immediately. Err, that would take some time. Because post the premiere of Paa on Thursday evening, Mr. Bachchan will rush to Lonavala early Friday morning for Bigg Boss.

Karan Johar signs Rensil for next film with UTV

Karan JoharNotwithstanding the box office failure of Kurbaan, Karan Johar, Rensil D'Silva and UTV Motion Pictures would be making another movie together. In fact, work has already begun on the scripting of the film and Karan has declared that the trio has a point to prove this time around. "At Dharma Productions, one of the prime virtues is that of loyalty. Our track record shows that. I have never doubted Rensil's capability even though the film hasn't worked at the box office. This doesn't stop me from having him direct another film for my production house. Similarly, our association with UTV has been great too. I am thrilled with the kind of support they gave to Wake Up Sid and Kurbaan. This is why it is imperative that we all come together again", says Karan Johar. After Kurbaan, Karan admits that quite a few lessons have been learnt and he is sure that they won't be repeated. He comments, "With our next outing together, we have to prove to one and all that we can come up with not just a critically acclaimed film but also a commercial success. I have in fact already told Rensil to go ahead with his next film. I am sure he would be rocking again and come up with a quality outing." Kurbaan, although a well made film, saw some brickbats coming it's way due to it's serious theme and stark execution. Looking at the film's fate, is the team of Karan, Rensil and UTV looking at playing safe and coming up with an out and out commercial outing? Or are they still going to follow an offbeat route? "It is not in Rensil's DNA to play to the gallery", smiles Karan, "He is not into quintessential routine Hindi cinema. Yes, he would be making something unique this time around too though the bottom line would be to keep things commercially viable for sure."

It's bonus time: Akshay-Katrina rain song back in De Dana Dan

De Dana DanThe inevitable has happened. Owing to popular demand, 'Gale Lag Ja' - the rain song and dance number featuring the lead pair of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif - has been added to the film's narrative. Though this much hyped song had created quite some buzz en route to the release of De Dana Dan, it was chopped off from the final copy of the print since it was adding to the film's length. However, the makers of De Dana Dan were open to the idea of incorporating the song as an added bonus if audiences demanded so and the film worked at the box office. With weekend collections being quite strong worldwide, the final call was taken around bringing back the song in the narrative. Confirms Ratan Jain, producer of De Dana Dan, "We were clear that the song would be added only if the film did well at the box office. There was no point doing that if (God forbid) people wouldn't have been going into theatres. Now that the weekend collections are out, we know that there would be repeat audiences for the film. For them, it would be another incentive to watch the film again while for the first timers, it's an added bonus." Since the film's running length is a little less than 3 hours already, would the incorporation of song be of any further impact? "No", says Jain, "The length of De Dana Dan is still the same. To compensate for those 4-5 minutes of the added song, we have edited an equal duration of a few scenes from the film." 'Gale Lag Ja' would now appear in the first half of the film at the point when Akshay calls Katrina to the hotel in order to share the kidnapping plan and then run away with the ransom amount. Meanwhile, Ratan Jain is ecstatic with the kind of collections that the film is showing with every passing day. "Saturday and Sunday were far better than Friday while Monday was more or less similar to Friday, which is superb", he says, "Normally, films fall quite rapidly on Monday but we have stayed on very stable grounds. The collections are superb overseas as well, whether in UK, Gulf or elsewhere. In India, we have seen Rs. 23 crores coming in just from the weekend which is superb. All our distributors are very happy and we are all set for a bountiful first week."

Saurabh Shukla sets the record straight for Raat Gayi Baat Gayi

Actor-writer-director Saurabh Shukla surfaces with his new directorial assignment RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? after a hiatus. After almost five years, to be precise. "I was disheartened after MUDDA and CHEHRAA. I didn't want to make movies just for the heck of it. But I will make up for the lost time by releasing three movies back to back, starting with RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI?," Saurabh smiles. Just recently, RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? was honoured at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York. "I was thrilled," he doesn't hide his feelings, but is quick to add, "I wish to clarify, RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? is not a 'festival film'. It's a film that the audience of today can relate to instantly. In fact, the term 'festival film' doesn't exist anymore. Even hardcore commercial films are showcased at distinguished festivals." Reportedly, there are similarities between RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? and THE HANGOVER. "The two films are poles apart. I'd also like to clarify that I started RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? much before THE HANGOVER was made. In fact, there's an interesting story behind RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI?. The seeds of this film were sown at a party that I attended long back. I was feeling terribly bored and kept staring at people aimlessly. The next morning, I narrated the episode to Rajat [Kapoor], who suggested that I write a story revolving around a party. That's how the story of RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? took shape," Saurabh states. Incidentally, RAAT GAYI, BAAT GAYI? will be the last release of his year. The makers plan to release the film on Thursday, December 31.

It's Thursday for 'Radio'

Himesh Reshammiya has decided to release RADIO on a Thursday, instead of a Friday. "The numbers 4 and 8 aren't lucky for me. KARZZZZ was released on October 17 last year, which totals to 8. I was dead against releasing the film on that date and my worst fears came true when KARZZZ flopped. That's why I decided against releasing RADIO on December 4 [Friday]. Instead, we will release the film on the evening of December 3 [Thursday]," Himesh explains his stand. Himesh is now eagerly awaiting the response to RADIO. This time, Himesh is keen on pleasing the multiplex junta. "You need to accept the fact that the booty comes in from the multiplexes. You need to have the mandate of this segment of moviegoers, if you want to play a long innings. That's precisely why RADIO is targeted at this segment," he states. Wasn't KAJRAARE supposed to be his third release? Reportedly, Studio 18's ISHQ UNPLUGGED will be his fourth release. Has Himesh put KAJRAARE on the backburner? "Definitely not! KAJRAARE is already complete and in all probability, will be my fourth release. It's a big film, it has been shot at several exotic locations and is a full on commercial film. We decided to bring RADIO first to create a strong base at plexes," Himesh reasons.
