Week 43 in review: Xiaomi Mi Mix steals the show


The Xiaomi Mi Mix is the single most interesting smartphone we’ve seen in a while, no doubt about that. Sure, the iPhone 8 may be rumored to be all display next year, but we can have that now in the Mi Mix, sort of. It does have a chin, and it will only be available in China for the time being, but those are details.


A more conventional offering, the Mi Note 2 from Xiaomi is official as well – itself a proper flagship, even with a dual-curved display like a certain Note7 we sadly won’t be seeing much of.

Mike Baird, the premier of New South Wales, Australia, copped a shellacking on social media Sunday after he shared a picture on Facebook of himself posing with graffiti, of himself.


The artwork, which was out the back of Sydney’s The Lord Gladstone pub, showed Baird as “Casino Mike,” complete with gambling chips, a cigarette and a glass of wine. Also, that time-honoured late night snack, a kebab.

Over the past few days Android users have been noticing an annoying notification that pops up after using the Facebook app and watching any video. It says “Cast Device Not Connected,” and includes a play and close button… and that’s it. Bette Midler got witchy for Halloween this year.


The legendary actress attended her New York Restoration Project’s annual “Hulaween” party dressed as Winifred Sanderson, the now-iconic witch she played in Hocus Pocus back in 1993.
