Sanjay Dutt to play himself in Amar Singh's film Dhokha

Sanjay Dutt
"Has Nitish Kumar become the CM of Bihar again? I'm so happy!" the disoriented Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari asked, as soon he came out of the Bigg Boss house on Friday.
Politics and Tiwari are now inextricably linked. Former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh will be played by Manoj Tiwari in a film entitled Dhokha based on Amar Singh's experiences in and disillusionment with politics. Slipping out this revelation on Friday afternoon when he was evicted from the Bigg Boss' house, the Bhojpuri star says, "Yes, I am playing Amar Singh. My character will have many of Amar Singhji's real-life incidents in the film. Of course, it will be done in a cinematic way. But, no doubt, it is Amar Singhji's life we will be portraying. Amar Singhji has finalized a very big Bollywood heroine to star opposite me." Apparently, Jaya Prada is the 'very big star' who play Amar Singh's wife opposite Tiwari. Further still, Sanjay Dutt, a close ally of Amar Singh, will also star in Dhokha as himself. Says Manoj Tiwari, "Sanju Baba will play Sanju Baba. Amar Singhji has already got Sanjay Dutt's role in place. We're also finalizing his other friends from Bollywood for the other characters. Tiwari says his 63 days inside Bigg Boss' house was a bhayaanak sapna. "It was as if life had stopped still. Most contestants were strugglers except, Khali and maybe Shweta Tiwari. There were no nice people inside there with me, except Khali and Seema Parihar. In Seemaji, I've found a mother and a sister. But for the rest, the less said the better. I am thankful to be out of the House because on December 18, I've to attend a very big function in Patna." Tiwari also lost a friend inside Bigg Boss. "Shweta Tiwari was a friend. I've worked with her in several films. She proved to be a very confused and confusing soul." Manoj Tiwari admits he went into Bigg Boss house for recognition. "So far, I was known as a regional star. Now, I am recognized on a national level. Hopefully as a good one".

Meet the new jodi of 'Band Baaja Baaraat'

Band Baaja BaaraatDownload B.B.B. wallpapers She started her career with Shah Rukh Khan. Her second film starred Shahid Kapoor. In her new film, BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, Anushka Sharma is paired opposite a rank newcomer - Ranveer Singh. Ideally, it should be the other way round, starting with a new face, then graduating to Shahid and then SRK. But Anushka reasons, "My career hasn't followed the routine and standard graph. But I'd like to add that Ranveer will surprise you with his acting skills in BANDA BAAJA BAARAAT. The industry will have another actor to bank upon. Also, though I worked with experienced actors in the past, I would like to add that I've learnt so much from Ranveer. Moreover, his energy is infectious and that rubbed on all of us." On Sunday night, the cast and crew screening of BAND BAAJA BAARAAT left Anushka mighty impressed. "Although it's directed by a first-time director [Maneesh Sharma] and stars a first-time actor as her co-star [Ranveer Singh], it doesn't give an impression when you watch the film," she tells me, "In fact, I wish to add here that Maneesh knows the craft very well, he's a gifted storyteller and most importantly, his take on the scenes is so different. Ten years down the line, when I look at my body of work, I would proudly say that Maneesh was amongst the best directors I worked with in my career." Ranveer, who takes his first step with BAND BAAJA BAARAAT, may belong to a non-film family, with no film connections whatsoever, but the youngster always aspired to be an actor ever since he was a kid. "While growing up, I realized that it's damn difficult to get that right break in the industry. You either had to be a star-kid or a film-maker's son," Ranveer reminisces, "After I returned from the U.S., I had made up my mind that I wanted to join movies. This was the vocation I wanted to pursue. Thus began the struggle." Not many know that Ranveer assisted Shaad Ali as an assistant director, before the big break happened [after JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM, Shaad was busy making ad films]. "One thing led to another and I got to know that Yash Raj was looking for a fresh face for BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. I was nervous when I auditioned for the part, but I channelized my energies and gave my best. In fact, Adi Sir [Aditya Chopra] told me much later that he had approved me after my first audition itself," Ranveer reveals. Now that he has entered the fray, comparisons with actors of his age-group, like Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, will begin once his movie hits the screens. "That is inevitable. But I would like to add that no two actors are similar, hence the comparisons, in my opinion, are unjustified. Yet, even if the comparisons take place, I have no issues with it," Ranveer states sportingly.

'Rakht Charitra 3' in the offing?

SuriyaIs Ramgopal Varma planning to make the third installment in the RAKHT CHARITRA series? Well, the maverick film-maker may declare that the story he wanted to narrate concluded when Suriya [Suriya] assassinates Pratap [Vivek Oberoi] in RAKHT CHARITRA 2, but looks like the film-maker has left the options open for the third installment of RAKHT CHARITRA. For those who haven't watched the film, the last sequence depicts Vivek's new-born watching Suriya on a news channel, soon after Vivek has been assassinated. Of course, we are well aware that RAKHT CHARITRA is inspired by a real-life story and there's no scope for the story to continue further, but RGV could spin a yarn - a work of fiction - whereby Vivek's new-born grows up to seek revenge. However, RGV dismisses the talk, when quizzed about the third installment. Incidentally, there's talk that RGV and South superstar Suriya are planning to work together in another project, which will be directed by a top notch Telugu film-maker. It's said that RGV will present this film.

Irrfan Khan and Tabu to star in Ang Lee's adaptation of Life of Pi

Irrfan Khan
It's no rocket science to say that both, Irrfan Khan and Tabu are powerhouse of talents. And with the two of them coming together in a single film means something that the film itself will be a powerful film that matches and does full justice to them. Till now, there were two films that were made with them, both earning rave reviews for its makers. They were Vishal Bharadwaj's Maqbool and Mira Nair's The Namesake. This pair will now be seen in the Ang Lee's adaptation of Yann Martel's bestseller Life of Pi. The market rumors have it that Irrfan will be playing the role of Pi's father and will be paired opposite the talented Tabu. Readers may remember that, in the recent past, it was Sonu Sood and Sushant Singh, who were being considered figured for the role, which eventually has landed up on Irrfan Khan's laps. When contacted by Bollywood Hungama, Irrfan's manager confirmed the news, but said that the official announcement is yet to be done.

Amitabh Bachchan returns to stage with Me Shahrukh Manjarsumbekar

Amitabh Bachchan
For the first time since he started his career as a movie actor in 1969, Amitabh Bachchan returns to stage, albeit in a most unexpected way.
The Big B will play himself on stage in Mahesh Manjrekar's Me Shahrukh Manjarsumbekar and that too in Marathi. But not in person. He will be speaking to the play's main protagonist played by Siddharth Jadhav, from a screen image which will be flashed at every performance of the play. And since the play will be in the form of an ongoing political comment with the politics changing in every performance according to the current headlines, it looks like the Big B has a long innings ahead on stage. "You can say that," laughs Mahesh Manjrekar, who returns to his first love, stage direction, with Me Shahrukh Manjarsumbekar. "Amitji will be seen in a dialogue with the Siddharth Jadhav character who plays the common man. The politics will change. But the two characters played by Jadhav and Amitji will remain the same." Interestingly, the Big B has played a part in the movie version of Me Shahrukh Manjarsumbekar. The movie entitled Struggler features Mahesh Manjrekar as the common man. Struggler is now ready for release after 5 years since its completion. Says Manjrekar, "It's a coincidence that the play and film are going to be out at the same time. The movie is very different from the play. I've made a lot of changes in the play. The play will have an ongoing commentary on current politics." The first staging of Me Shahrukh Manjarsumbekar will focus on Rahul Gandhi's comment during the Bihar election campaign to the effect that Maharashtra is prosperous today because of Biharis. Says Manjrekar, "It is such divisive politics that, my play will strive to criticize through the character of the common man. Amitji's audio-visual will be the highlight of every show."
