FWICE halts Katrina's shoot, Salman plays peacemaker

Katrina KaifRecently, Katrina Kaif was shooting for a commercial for a leading brand of deodorant at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. Amidst the shoot, members of FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) halted the shoot. The reason? Well, they had recently issued summons to Kats, as she is yet to fill the required forms and sign up for the FWICE's membership, as it's compulsory for every actor to be registered with the organization. Reports have it that the said organization's members wanted to know her registration number. Because, she hasn't completed the legalities, they issued her a warning and told her to obey the rules and regulations of the body. The whole episode obviously upset Kats to no end. The issue was solved only after a call was made by none other than Salman Khan, who in turn assured the organization that Katrina will complete the registration. It's only after this assurance, did the shooting resumed to normalcy. Meanwhile, Dinesh Chaturvedi, President-FWICE said that they wanted to know why Katrina still isn't a member of the organization. He also confirmed to getting a call from Salman assuring that the needful will be done. Chaturvedi also added that the card only costs Rs 600, has many benefits including insurance amongst others.

Delhi Belly toned down in Hindi

Delhi BellyAamir Khan's most irreverent film to date with the most off-colour jokes gags and dialogues about conception, misconception and other sexual concerns that Bollywood never conceived, just got less flamboyant in language and content. The dubbed Hindi version we hear, has softened the impact of the smut-quotient. Dirty words have been downsized, so to speak.
There seems to be no end to the shock-value provided by Delhi Belly. However, it now comes to light that the language in the dubbed Hindi version of the film is far less in-your-face colourful than in the English version. Producer Aamir Khan took a conscious decision to make the Hindi version less risqué and offensive. Says a source, "When it was decided that there will be two versions of Delhi Belly, the original English and a dubbed Hindi version, the initial plan was to bring all the angrezi abusive swear words, terms questioning the characters' parentage and the colourful coinages describing the sexual acts, into a faithful translation in Hindi." But then apparently, Aamir in all his wisdom decided that those words sounded really obnoxious in Hindi. Says a source, "There was no way we could have the crude Hindi 'ch' word for reproduction being reproduced in the Hindi version of Delhi Belly. Wherever the 'F' word occurs, we've softened the blow by using a Hindi euphemism like 'leta hai' and 'deti hai'." Ironically, there were more Hindi expletives and cuss words in the English version than there are now in Hindi. Says the source, "For instance the three friends call each by the crudest word for the phallus in Hindi. That's there in the English version but gone from the dubbed Hindi version." So is the Hindi version of Delhi Belly targeted at a more conservative, less irreverent audience? Says Aamir's spokesperson. "You could say that. The Hindi version is far less colourful. This was a conscious decision taken to make the Hindi version more acceptable to a wider adult audience. But there was no original English version. What you're referring to as an English version of Delhi Belly is actually a 'Hinglish' version. 70 percent of it is in English and 30 percent is in Hindi. But the Hindi version is 100 percent in Hindi. And yes the Hindi version has far less colourful in language."

Animated Andaz Apna Apna will not have Aamir and Salman

Andaz Apna ApnaAt last the wheels of production will start rolling, with the stereoscopic animated version of Raj Kumar Santoshi's enormous chartbuster, Andaz Apna Apna being made this year. The central characters, Amar and Prem enacted by Aamir and Salman Khan, however will differ in the stereoscopic animated version. iRock, the company which will be producing the film, have been advised not to use the actor's faces in the animated version to avoid any legal hassles in using the superstars faces in their film. Sid Jain, CEO - iRock says, "There are limitations to what I can do because they are such big stars. With the licensing, merchandising and other factors, it would invite legal trouble. We basically wanted unique identity for the characters, if you look at Woody from Toy Story, he does not look like Tom Hanks." The humorous animated version is being made in stereoscopic 3D which is currently in its production phase. Speaking about the style and the theme of the animated version, Sid says, "There is a certain exaggerated style that is there in all the characters. The animation would be more to the likes of The Simpsons or Bevis And Butthead style." The animated version of Andaz Apna Apna is slated to release in the summer of 2012.

Uday Chopra to quit acting after Dhoom 3

Uday ChopraHe may not qualify as one of the biggest superstars in the country, but all said and done, he did manage to cut out a niche for himself. We're talking about none other than Uday Chopra. The younger son of the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra started his career with the superhit film Mohabbatein and though he didn't manage to strike gold with all his films at the Box Office, he delivered hits like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and blockbuster films Dhoom and Dhoom 2. The actor who is now all set to feature in Dhoom 3, however, has announced his retirement from acting. Uday who is currently in Kansas tweeted earlier today, "Ok confession time...Dhoom 3 is my swan song...my last film...no I'm not giving up acting...quite the opposite, acting is giving up on me!" Uday will be seen in Dhoom 3 along with Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Though YRF chose not to respond to this, it seems like Dhoom 3 will be Uday Chopra's last film as an actor.

Mansoor Khan to make Bollywood comeback

Now this is going to be 'big breaking news' for all those who actually thought that one of Indian Film Industry's gem was lost and took a sabbatical. His career began way back with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, followed by Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Akele Hum Akele Tum and then Josh. Now in such cases, you really don't want the readers to keep guessing. So I can simply put it like - MANSOOR KHAN IS BACK! Yes, the producer of Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na is back to where he belongs and back to what he does best. As of now, Aamir Khan has once again urged him to step into writing, and that too for Aamir Khan Productions. Aamir clarified the above when I met him yesterday at the Taj Lands End in Bandra where he was giving interviews for his next production Delhi Belly. He quotes, "Mansoor Khan is a great talent. He produced Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na with me. I had to convince him for that (laughs). But this time I've convinced him to write for me too. After a long time, he will be coming back to writing in films. Four of us - I, Kiran, Mansoor and Nuzhat are working on it together. We start writing next month." On asking him who will direct the film, the pioneer said, "Kiran will be directing the film and yes, at the moment, I am planning to be one of the cast in that film." Does that mean Aamir will have to wait to sit on his directors' chair for a good couple of years? "My direction can wait. I will next urge Mansoor to direct too. Let's see when that news comes out (laughs)", the actor, director, producer comments. We are proud to have you back in the ring Mansoor...and we know you'll come out victorious like you always have.

5 crores loss for Heroine?

HeroineWith uncertainty looming large over the film's fate and unconfirmed reports stating that Heroine could either be shelved completely or begin with another leading lady, trade is pegging the overall loss of 4-5 crores on a conservative scale. "It could even be more. There was so much spent on the film's pre-production. Who is going to account for the money spent on the shooting so far", questions a trade source. While it is being said that Ash is willing to continue with the film's shoot with director Madhur Bhandarkar on a fast track mode so that no one's interests are harmed, it is obvious that the makers aren't willing to buy any justification. More so because apparently, neither the producers (UTV) nor the director were informed in advance about Ash going the family way. "Aisa thodi hi hota hai", is the question asked, "There was an overseas shoot planned. Then there are a couple of dances that Ash was supposed to do. For the dramatic portions of the film, Madhur could still go ahead and take close-up shots to hide her pregnancy. But how about the part where she has to look glamorous? Her entire profile can anyways not be shown on camera, now that she is all set to put on weight." A stickler for getting it all just right, especially when it comes to a film of his with a real and hard hitting setting, Madhur can't be expected to allow Ash faking anything for camera. No wonder, with so much happening around his much cherished subject which is just failing to take off, Madhur has gone into a shell. Confirms an industry source, "He has cut himself from the outside world and gone into hibernation. Perhaps once he comes out of the shock, he would decide further course of action." For everyone's sake, we hope that happens rather soon.

Katrina Kaif to go on stage for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan 'Live' gigs

Mere Brother Ki DulhanIt's fun time for Katrina Kaif. It looks like she has decided to discard her habitually solemn demeanor to have some serious fun. And if 'serious fun' sounds like a contradiction in terms, it nonetheless describes her state of mind to perfection.
And if she has decided to be in the fun zone at the moment, a lot of that zest to be happy comes from the company that she's been keeping lately. Imran Khan, her co-star in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has been "really cool company" for Katrina. Says a friend of the actress, "Katrina found herself warming up not only to Imran but also to his family Avantika. She felt she was part of a family." And the 'family' has convinced Katrina to go on stage for what is secretly being termed the 'Dulhan' gigs. Says a source, "The Mere Brother Ki Dulhan producers Yash Raj plan to put Katrina, Imran and Ali Zafar on stage to promote the film. Ali who plays one of the leads asked Katrina if she too would accompany him for the gigs that would take them to several metros. At first Katrina laughed off his suggestion. When Ali was adamant, she wanted to know what she would do on stage. Ali suggested she join him to sing. And Katrina is game." As things stand the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan live concerts would be Katrina's first ever live concerts. Katrina can't wait.
