USPTO awards Apple a patent for its VR headset designed for smartphones


The USPTO has awarded a patent to Apple for a device called a “Head-Mounted Display Apparatus For Retaining A Portable Electronic Device With Display.” In simple terms, this is a VR headset for smartphones. The phone being used is plugged into a jack, and connects to the front of the headset.


The headset accounts for the lenses, a touchpad, a proximity sensor, home and back buttons, and a wheel that is used to focus the image better. Snake sightings are always pretty creepy, but they don’t get more terrifying than this.


Australian man Steve Young was out on his property last Sunday when he happened to spot a 1.6 metre (5.2 foot) poisonous red-bellied black snake eating a brown snake — and well over halfway through its meal.

Nintendo is going to win the holidays with NES Classic Edition


Hundreds of hours of nostalgia packed into a tiny box that is smaller and lighter than your mobile phone.


Nintendo seems to have stumbled onto the perfect holiday gift with its NES Classic Edition. The diminutive plastic box packs 30 classic games into a pint-sized recreation of the original NES. It’s USB-powered and spits out video via HDMI, but the games look and play just like they used to.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 gets official on November 4, according to a teaser image


Xiaomi is set to unveil the Redmi 4 at an event on November 4, which is this Friday. At least that’s what is allegedly teased by the image you can see to the left. The teaser has been outed by Xiaomi today, and it shows the upcoming handset’s top left corner, seen from the front. You can just barely make out the earpiece, while the 2.5D curved glass on top of the screen is very obvious. The metal construction is also a given considering what can be seen in the image.


The Redmi 4 has been rumored to sport a 5-inch 1080p touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, a 5 MP selfie…
