FII stock holding at new high

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) may have turned big sellers in recent weeks. But FII ownership of Indian stocks touched a new high during the quarter ending March. FII holding (including ADRs and GDRs) reached 25.3% in BSE 200 companies, or $343 billion, at the end of March — the highest in a decade. They bought equities to the tune of Rs 37,000 crore during the quarter.

ONGC strikes more oil at Mumbai High

State-owned ONGC has struck black gold in Graben, a sub-surface valley sandwiched between the two giant fields of Mumbai High North and Mumbai High South. The discovery appears to be significant considering that oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited the Mumbai oil filed on Thursday following a briefing by the ONGC chairman.

IBM Bluemix finds converts from Amazon, Azure in India

IBM’s Bluemix, a late effort by IBM to compete with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, is having a good run in India, better than elsewhere in the world. The platform-as-a-service (PaaS), launched globally in February last year, had about 40,000 users in India last November, about 60,000 in February this year, and over 83,000 towards the middle of April. That’s adding over 20,000 users every two months or so.
