CINTAA to take action against foreign Pakistani actors
Sep 26, 4:52PM
Recently, CINTAA decided to take action against Pakistani and other foreign actors/artists who haven't completed the required visa formalities and the ones who have not enrolled under this union. Foreign actors and other artists who are planning to work for Bollywood have to now register under the Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) before starting their work in this film industry.
Elaborating on the rules, Gajendra Chauhan, General Secretary, CINTAA stated that the ones who are looking for work in Bollywood should have an E visa in order to be enrolled under their association. However, he also pointed out that many actors who are currently a part of the film fraternity have the B visa which is against the regulations. Some of them include Fawad Khan who made his debut with Khoobsurat and Humaima Malick who debuted with Raja Natwarlal.
Adding further, Gajendra mentioned that they will be taking strict action against the ones who do not abide by the rules and they have even written a letter to the External Affairs Ministry so that the actors and other artists follow the guidelines religiously.
Hrithik Roshan to promote Dont Drink and Drive campaign
Sep 26, 4:51PM
Hrithik Roshan may be busy promoting his upcoming film Bang Bang, but that does not stop the actor from getting involved in noble social causes. Amidst promotions and the recent #bangbangdare fever, the actor has now decided to join the 'Don't Drink and Drive' promotional campaign in association with the Delhi police.
With the increasing number of accidents happening due to drink and drive cases in the capital, the police decided to take up the initiative and expressed their desire to rope in Hrithik Roshan as the face for this campaign in order to spread awareness about the hazards of drinking and driving. Not ending at that, the police along with the actor will not only condemn acts of driving under influence but will also educate people on the means of road safety as a part of this campaign.
Hrithik Roshan who was approached by the police authorities last week, immediately agreed to participate in this initiative. It is being said that this was because the actor and the team of his upcoming film Bang Bang were impressed by the efficiency of the Delhi police. During the shooting schedule of their film, the Delhi police it seems had provided a tight security around the venue and were majorly responsible for the hassle-free shooting of the film. Hence, Hrithik Roshan too decided to join hands with the police authorities for this campaign.
Produced by Fox Star Studios and directed by Siddharth Anand, Bang Bang also stars Katrina Kaif, Danny Denzongpa amongst others and is the official remake of the Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz starrer Knight And Day. It is slated to release on October 2.
Producers demand Rs 32 crores for Sunny Leones Mastizaade
Sep 26, 12:51PM
Sunny Leone's next film Mastizaade, which the porn star turned actress recently started shooting for, has been in the news since it went on floor. Now we hear that the producers of the film, Pritish Nandy Communication, are planning on selling the distribution rights for a whopping Rs. 32 crores.
The sale comes as a surprise since Mastizaade that recently went on floor has completed only 15 days of shooting with a major part of the film yet to be shot. Interestingly though, while the makers have approached several big names in distribution and studios, they are yet to receive reverts. Talking about it, Rongita Nandy, says, "Yes we are looking out for distributors for the film, but I cannot talk about the price for the same. As for not receiving a revert, we are not so concerned since we are in no hurry to lock a distributor, as we are looking at releasing the film only in 2015. "
Said to be a sex comedy, Mastizaade in addition to Sunny Leone, will also feature Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das. Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, the film is produced by Pritish Nandy.
Varun Dhawan Deepika Padukone in The Fault In Our Stars remake
Sep 26, 11:53AM
Though Varun Dhawan is busy shooting for two films currently, the actor has decided to take up yet another project which is none other than the remake of the popular Hollywood film and an adaptation of one of the international bestsellers, 'The Fault In Our Stars'. Also the film will have Deepika Padukone playing the leading lady.
The Fault In Our Stars is a story of a young girl suffering from cancer who decides to attend a Cancer Support Group after a lot of persuasion from her parents. Destiny takes a turn after she meets a young boy who too has suffered from cancer in this group and the two fall in love. Though primarily it's a love story, the Hindi remake is said to have a twist as this serious drama will be treated with humour.
The Hollywood adaptation of the novel by the same name that starred Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort released this year and managed to rake in quite a moolah worldwide.
For the Bollywood remake, it is being said that the actors will be playing teenagers. The film is to be produced by Fox Star Studios in association with Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films and is directed by Homi Adajania. It is slated to go on floor in March 2015.
Currently, Varun Dhawan is busy wrapping up the Remo D'Souza directorial ABCD 2 along with Shraddha Kapoor and Sriram Raghavan's Badlapur starring Yami Gautam and Huma Qureshi. Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, is busy with the promotions of her upcoming film Happy New Year. She also has to complete the shoot schedule of Tamasha directed by Imtiaz Ali and Shoojit Sircar's Piku with Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan. She will also be seen with Ranveer Singh in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Bajirao Mastani.
No Sonam Kapoor in her sisters next production
Sep 26, 10:31AM
Having finished and released Khoobsurat Anil Kapoor's younger daughter Rhea is on to her next production.
Entitled Saat Hindustani, the film will feature 7 newcomers in the title roles. This start-to-finish small project action film will be directed by Karan Boolani who is rumoured to be a close friend of Rhea. Karan had served as an assistant director on Rhea Kapoor's Aisha as well as Karan Johar's Wake Up Sid.
Interestingly, this would be Rhea's first production which won't star her sister Sonam.
A source very close to the project reveals, "Saat Hindustani doesn't require Sonam. It needs seven fresh faces. Those faces are now being finalized."
Apparently, Anil Kapoor will make a guest appearance in Saat Hindustani.
Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bang Bang to release in IMAX format
Sep 26, 10:29AM
Last year, Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan had wanted to bring their Krrish 3 on an IMAX format. However since the process of conversion from a regular to IMAX format needed two to three months, the idea was dropped. This time around though all preparations have been put well on time, hence resulting in Bang Bang being the only film other than Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 (which won the IMAX race last year) by releasing in this format.
"The common factor here is the action which is at par with Hollywood," says our source, "For an IMAX experience, it is the action genre that works most and since Bang Bang has been shot on an expansive scale with quite a few wide angle sequences, it was imperative that the film was showed in the best format possible."
Since IMAX is still in its infancy in India, only the viewers in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad would be able to relish this experience. For the rest, it would stay on to be a big screen watch.
Confirms Siddharth Anand, the director of the film, "Yes, the film would also be arriving in IMAX. I am happy since it would be a new experience for me too. I am curious to catch the film in IMAX. It is fun to see your work as a biggest audio-video experience."
In the last 12 months gone by, Dhoom 3, Krrish 3 and Kick have set the benchmark as far as action films are concerned. Looking at Bang Bang, can one say that it is the biggest ever action film to have come out of Bollywood?
Says Siddharth diplomatically, "Well, it is the audience that makes the film bigger or the biggest. All I can say is that from the scale and setting perspective, Bang Bang is as big as it gets."
"It is an expensive film for sure, though the good part is that every penny that has been spent shows on screen. Guess it would show only better on the big screen," he chuckles before signing off.
My first film production is almost in place - A R Rahman
Sep 25, 12:31PM
A R Rahman is getting into film production. "My first film production is almost in place. This is something I wanted to do for some time now. But my other commitments didn't allow me to," he said.
At the moment he is not willing give away too many details about the film he will produce. Says Rahman, "My first film production is in Hindi. Why did I choose this language? Because it's a North Indian story."
Rahman says he needed to create his own cinema to accommodate his musical vision. "Every filmmaker comes to me with his own idea and vision....one happy song, sad song, a dance number....and so on. My own creative vision gets submerged in the larger picture. Producing a film will give me the platform I needed for my music. In fact producing music videos was also a preparation for film production, as they gave me a chance to express my music in the visual terms that I wanted."
Rahman singles out Vishal Bhardwaj for making the transition from music to filmmaking. "Vishal was able to express his music in cinema. Which is the transition that I am looking at."
At the moment, though, Rahman is not looking at film direction. "That vocation needs undivided attention. Just like I can't do songs for two films at the same time I can't direct until I stop doing everything else. I am going to get directors who can execute my vision."
Rahman is all set to release his non-film album containing the kind of music that he always wanted to do but somehow never got down to doing.
"Too many other commitments, all to do with what was wanted from me it was never about what I wanted to do. The music in my new album is more layered and reflective, more....me."
