Alabama skies covered by stunning wave clouds

The skies above Alabama on Thursday were transformed into a rare display of a cloud known as undulatus, as well as an even more rare and highly prized cloud formation among atmospheric aficionados: undulatus asperatus.

Undulatus asperatus, or turbulent wave clouds, have been the subject of a quixotic advocacy campaign by the UK-based Cloud Appreciation Society, which is a lobbying group for cloud fanatics worldwide.

Social media posts show that the sky was full of undulatus, or “wavy,” clouds above Alabama as a mixture of sleet, snow and rain moved into the region on Thursday morning. Both types of clouds reveal turbulent wave motion of varying amplitudes. …

Google adds Zika info to search and partners with UNICEF to map outbreak

The Zika virus continues to spread across South America and beyond, but unlike with other pandemics, identifying and mapping the outbreak has proven hard. Google today announced that it is now working with UNICEF to build a platform that aims to bring together data from different sources to map (and predict) potential outbreaks. Sick girl cured after blowing a safety pin out of her nose

Sometimes, the best cure for a mysterious illness is a sneeze.

In Helmet, California, 5-year-old Khloe Powell had been struggling with terrible nasal pain for six months. The girl’s mother, Katelyn Powell, took her to multiple doctors, who diagnosed her with several different types of sinus infections. But only when the girl had a good, hearty sneeze did the truth come out: she had a safety pin lodged in her nose.

New report suggests iPhone will get OLED displays in 2017

A new report from Chinese organization Nikkei says that Apple has been reaching out to Samsung in and LG in December of this past year to see if they are able to produce insane volumes of OLED panels for releasing an OLED iPhone in 2017. Reports also say that this deal with Samsung and LG could be up to $12 billion.

This new 2017 goal does seem realistic and possible because of the way Apple refreshes its iPhones every other year. The physical device has very similar dimensions but components, sensors, or features might change with the newer iteration.

If the iPhone 7 comes out this year (which in accordance to the last 8 iPhones, this is the only logical step), then the iPhone 7S would be launching by later next year in 2017. An OLED display could be in that list of new hardware changes for the iPhone 7S.

OLED displays offer vivid colors, darker blacks, and more energy efficient operations than LCD panels have done in the past. Samsung has been using its own AMOLED panels for many different Galaxy phones in the past several years.

This is the time when Apple needs to think outside the box a little bit more and perhaps take more risks. Last year’s financial reports released from Apple have already shown a stunt in growth of iPhone sales and everyone is watching Apple’s next moves.

With the LG G5 approaching, T-Mobile lowers the price of the LG G4

With pre-orders for the new LG G5 scheduled to start in a couple of weeks, it looks like T-Mobile is attempting to clear some of its LG G4 stock. The carrier is now offering the LG G4 at $349.99, which is one of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen for the year-old device.

Just in case you need a refresher, the LG G4 comes with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable internal storage. That’s a pretty solid setup, although it should be mentioned that the LG G4 just isn’t as fast as other high-end Android phones of 2015, such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 or … – Source

Teacher pushed to resign after student grabs nude pics from her phone

Leigh Anne Arthur. (credit: WYFF)

South Carolina news outlets are reporting a story about a Union County high school student who grabbed his teacher’s phone, found nude pictures of her, and shared them with his friends. But it’s the teacher—not the student—who’s in hot water.

Union County High School teacher Leigh Anne Arthur says she left her phone on her desk for a few minutes while she went out on a routine patrol of the school’s hallways. A 16-year-old student opened her phone, which wasn’t protected with a password, and found pictures of Arthur that included shots of her partially undressed. The student used his own phone to take pictures of the partial nudes and send them around.

“He told the whole class that he would send them to whoever wanted them,” Arthur told TV station WSPA. The student who took the pictures “told me ‘your day of reckoning is coming,'” she added.
