The HTC Bolt officially won’t be coming to Canada

The HTC Bolt is officially not heading to Canada, with a Sprint rep telling Mobile Syrup that “the HTC Bolt is a Sprint exclusive device and will only be available in the U.S.. It won’t be available in Canada”. But that doesn’t mean that the Bolt may not just assume a different name as it crosses the northern border…

According to Evan Blass, the HTC Bolt may still end up in Canada (and other global markets) under the moniker HTC 10 evo. Part HTC 10 and part Google Pixel, the HTC Bolt is a pretty nice looking phone even if it does have slightly watered down specs compared to those influences.

The HTC Bolt features a 5.5-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage. On the camera front, the HTC Bolt packs a 16 MP main shooter with OIS and f/2.0 aperture along with a 8 MP front-facing selfie cam with a f/2.4 aperture.

The Bolt runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0. The HTC Bolt does away with the beloved 3.5 mm headphone jack but adds an IP57 dust- and water-resistant rating to make up for it. The HTC Bolt also appeared with the world’s first “dual adaptive” USB Type-C headphones.

Would you buy the HTC Bolt under another name?

Judge wants Amazon to refund unauthorized in-app purchases made by children

Back in July 2014, the FTC sued Amazon claiming that the company had allowed children to make in-app purchases without the consent of their parents. This past April, a judge ruled that Amazon did not warn or safeguard Appstore users about unauthorized in-app charges made by these minors using freemium apps. On Thursday, a federal judge ordered Amazon to set up a process that over a year would help reimburse parents for these charges.

When the FTC brought its original suit against Amazon in 2014, the government agency said that Amazon didn’t prevent kids from running up $86 million of unauthorized … – Source

Verizon delays shipment of 128GB Google Pixel XL by more than two weeks

The Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL are the first handsets to be designed by Google. They are both manufactured by HTC, and in the U.S. the only carrier selling the phones is Verizon (more on this ‘exclusive’ later). One of our loyal PhoneArena readers happened to order the 128GB version of the Pixel XL. According to an email he sent to us today, his phone was supposed to have been shipped today. Instead, he received some bad news.

Verizon sent our reader an emailed notification on Friday that probably took the air out of his balloon. Instead of getting word that his 128GB Pixel XL had … – Source

[Deal Alert] Moto 360 Sport is down to $119.99 on DailySteals

The Moto 360 Sport has plummeted in price since it was released in January. The original $299 asking price was just a bit too high for most consumers, and just four months later, it was removed from the Google Store. The price has only dropped since then, with the watch currently going for $119 at DailySteals.

For the uninformed, the Moto 360 Sport is essentially a second-generation Moto 360 redesigned for sporty stuff.

Facebook is now saying we're all dead

Many living Facebook users were “memorialized” Friday afternoon, meaning the social network claimed they were dead.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

It’s unclear why this happened, but the issue affected a variety of users — including the author of this post:

“We hope people who love Damon will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life,” a new header said at the top of my profile page, and several others that I checked.

Google's Android 7.0 Nougat is slow to gather market share three months since its unveiling

Since Google unveiled Android 7.0 Nougat back in August, there haven’t been a lot of smartphones to get the new OS version or launch with it pre-installed. Aside from the LG V20 and the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, there are no other major smartphones in the US to come with Nougat out of the box. Furthermore, most of the popular Android smartphones of 2016 still run some version of Android Marshmallow. Sure, Motorola is breaking the pattern by launching quick Nougat updates to its latest phones, but at the market level, Nougat has yet to make an impact some three months … – Source
