The Microsoft Lumia 550 got discounted just last week and now it took another pay cut – the UK price dropped from the £90 from last week to £60. The US and EU prices don’t seem to have followed this second reduction though.

Anyway, new customers can now grab a 550 from Carphone Warehouse for £60 + £10 top-up for a Pay as you go plan with EE. Upgrades get it for £50. The retailer has exclusivity on the White color option, but the phone is also available in Black.

Google Nexus 6P vs Samsung Galaxy Note5

Introduction
When it comes to the phablet domain, Samsung’s Galaxy Note smartphones have consistently been the frontrunners in its class ever since the segment’s inception. This year’s latest iteration, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, sees a tremendous shift in its design – while also improving on what it does best. That, of course, consists of being incredibly spec’d to the roof, and accompanied with a diversified portfolio that caters to the everyday professional.

The time has come to show you some of the best widgets that have ventured to the Google Play Store during the past two weeks! Amazon pulls listings for hoverboards over battery concerns

“Marty, you have to come back with me!” Amazon is worried about the rash of “hoverboards” catching fire and has notified all sellers of the electric gadgets that it needs documentation that their batteries meet safety standards.

Swagway (probably Segway’s fly cousin) stated that their boards are already fully certified and is glad that Amazon “decided to take steps to weed out the low quality boards.” The company is also working on ways that will allow consumers to verify that they got an authentic Swagway.

It seems that Amazon has already pulled some listings for hoverboards (even the reportedly compliant Swagways). Others (like Razor and Jetson) are still available…

Chinese censors are scrubbing sites of mentions of North Korean girl band

After the Moranbong Band’s abrupt cancelation of their performances in Beijing over the weekend, it appears Chinese censors went to work deleting speculation and chatter about the North Korean girl band on mainland sites.

The Moranbong Band, whose members were said to be handpicked by North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, were on a goodwill mission to Beijing and were set to perform three concerts starting Saturday night. But just hours before the first, they abruptly canceled the gig and headed home on a North Korean jet.

The band was supposed to perform songs such as “Long Live the Workers’ Party of Korea” and “I wanted to see you (Comrade Kim Jong-un)” at the invite-only goodwill concert, said …

Turn your Microsoft Band 2 into a table clock with this $19.99 charging stand

A new charging stand for the Microsoft Band 2 will turn your wearable into a table clock. Even better, the stand eliminates those unsightly cable-lines. While you are using the stand, all of the charging wires can be hidden from view without getting tangled. And the use of “magnetized adhesion” means that the charging cables can be quickly attached and removed.

The price of the charging stand is $19.99 from the Microsoft Store, but keep in mind that the charging cable is not included. You have to use the cable that comes out of the box with your purchase of the Microsoft Band 2.

20 LG V10 interface features that make the day-to-day Android experience better

LG’s V10 is certainly among the “surprise devices” that came out in 2015. Not because it’s a premium phablet by LG, but because of its funky experimental feature – the secondary anways-on screen (also called “ticker”), used to display notifications and app shortcuts. The manufacturer also explored a slightly different take on design language and materials, with stainless steel bars running along the sides of the handset and giving it a very sturdy feel, while the phone’s shape is flat and large – something we haven’t seen from LG’s top-tier handsets in a while.
