Literature has always been the foundation of the feminist movement. Since the 18th century, when Mary Wollstonecraft wrote A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, women have used print to spread knowledge and awareness, and promote feminist ideas.
Although feminist literature has been around for hundreds of years, we tend to stick to an unofficial canon of a few classics. But to promote progress and intersectionality, we should expand our feminist library to include more contemporary works, too.

Singer John Legend wasn’t having any of Donald Trump Jr.’s complaining.
When the Republican presidential front-runner’s son complained on Twitter about protesters derailing his father’s Chicago rally Friday night, Legend swooped in to shut him down.

Trump Jr. said some students protesting at the event, which quickly devolved into chaos after the candidate canceled it, didn’t have a real cause.
But for Legend, their motivation was pretty clear.

Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes is backtracking on comments he made earlier this week suggesting that security at Paris’ Bataclan theater may have been in on the attacks that killed 89 people during the band’s show on November 13, calling them “absurd accusations.”
On Wednesday, Hughes told Fox Business Network that before the show, he found out that “six or so” security guards failed to show up that night. “It seems rather obvious that they had a reason not to show up,” he said.
The venue responded Thursday calling his statements not only defamatory, but “insane.”
