Sanjay Dutt and Kangna Ranaut in Mani Shankar's Knock Out
50-year old Sanjay Dutt has been shooting with 20-something Kangna Ranaut. And if they were looking super-compatible in spite of Kangna being half of Dutt's age, it's all because of Dutt's special ketosis-based diet. Says a source close to Dutt, "Sanjay went on this special diet in June. It required him to take lots and lots of fattie food and no carbohydrates at all. In fact carbs would've been potentially lethal for this diet. In no time Sanjay started losing weight. And that too without Sanju having to give up his favourite food." Today, Dutt is looking trimmer than he did ten years ago. And when he shot with Kangna last week, the camera made them look compatible. Dutt plays an assassin out to get his victim with a sniper rifle in Knock Out. Kangna Ranaut has always had a fascination for assassin heroes. She began her career with Gangster where her assassin-hero was Shiney Ahuja. Now in Mani Shankar's Knock Out, she's again attracted to the killer-hero, this time played by Sanjay Dutt. The two became professionally fond of one another while shooting for the comedy No Problem in Cape Town. When Mani Shankar was looking for a bright intense young actress to play a television journalist it was Dutt who recommended Kangna to the director.
Hrithik and Aishwarya to croon for Guzaarish
After experimenting with his vocal chords for Kites, Hrithik Roshan will now be heard in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish. Aishwarya too will be singing for the film. A source reveals, ''This isn't the first time Hrithik and Aishwarya will croon for a film. In the past, Ash has sung for Josh along with Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik made his singing debut with Kites. The song will be recorded by director Bhansali who is also composing the film's music.'' The source continues, ''It was Bhansali's idea to get them exercising their vocal chords. Initially both were a little apprehensive but after sitting with the director and talking about the song, both gave a green signal. Hrithik-Ash pairing was always going to be one to watch out for - especially after their sizzling Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar chemistry and this film just makes it all the more interesting with them singing in it too. Apart from singing the duo are also learning Portuguese for the film.'' In Guzaarish, Hrithik plays a paraplegic suffering from impairments of the motor and sensory functions of the lower limbs. Aishwarya Rai plays his nurse in the movie.
Abhay Deol turns producer, his first film will be action flick titled Basra
Deols of Bollywood are synonymous to action, just as Kapoors are synonymous to romance. But one Deol boy took the high road. He did the unexpected and did every kind of role but action oriented, that boy was Abhay Deol. The unconventional hero of Bollywood, now has his own production company called, 'Forbidden Films' that is expected to make films that are not typical to Bollywood. Their first venture is the film titled Basra, which is going to see Abhay as the action hero. So, the Deol boy is going to carry on the family tradition by bashing people up on screen. One wonders if it is a well thought out strategy as this is his first film as a producer. Abhay states that action, comedy and romance are safe genres and when one becomes a producer, he needs to be cautious and read the market. But this does not mean that he is following Dharmendra or brother Sunny's footsteps, he clarifies that if others think that he is fit to do only certain kind of movies, he will make movies in which he gets to be different.
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif to walk for Rohit Bal
Today, Wednesday (October 28), Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor will walk the ramp in Delhi for designer Rohit Bal at the conclusion of the Couture Week in Delhi. Both Katrina and Ranbir have known Rohit Bal socially, though this is first time they'll be wearing his clothes. This is also the first time that Ranbir and Katrina will be walking the ramp together. "And most definitely the first time for Rohit Bal. But it's for our film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. Rohit will be dressing us up in some fun, funky, young and vibrant clothes. And I'll of course be sporting my trademark ponytail hairstyle from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani," says Katrina. Ranbir has been shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha's Rajneeti. Tuesday was the last day of the film's shoot. Today, Ranbir is expected to join Katrina in Delhi for their ramp romp in the evening. The last Bollywood biggie to have walked the ramp for Rohit Bal was Shah Rukh Khan. "I'm excited because Rohit is not a typical Bollywood designer. I want too see what he has put together for me. I'll only know tomorrow," Katrina said on Tuesday. Katrina is excited about the release of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani because it's her first attempt at doing situational comedy. "I've a much smaller role in my next release De Dana Dan. But I'm equally excited about it since Akshay and I form a great team. And this is my first film with Priyadarshan.
Aamir Khan confesses to being 'Pucca Idiott' on Facebook
Allaying fears of an online identity theft, Aamir Khan has finally confessed that it is indeed he who was masquerading as 'Pucca Idiott' on the social networking site Facebook. Late last night, Aamir wrote on his wall, "Ok guys, I give up. I guess its time to drop my defences. Yeh Star News wale bade kamzarf hain, mera bhanda phod diya, yaar. Not that I mind interacting with all of you, don't get me wrong. But I have my blog at www.aamirkhan.com for just that." And more, "Confession over. Relief..." Aamir also bares his soul, frank as ever, "Here, on Facebook, I was trying to be anonymous so that anyone I interact with treats me like a normal guy. Also I get to know what you folks are really thinking and feeling. Sometimes you might not share everything with me, or might not be totally frank with me, if you know who I am." Is the star feeling lonely at the top? He further remarked that it felt good to chat up with his Facebook friends and also added some photos of wife Kiran Rao and him on a holiday in Chamonix, as proof for the skeptics.
Piping hot news
Here's some piping hot news, straight for you... Mohit Suri's next project, after RAAZ, deals with racial discrimination. Starring Emraan Hashmi in the lead, the film is called COLOURS. Sujoy Ghosh was supposed to start BORIVALI before ALADIN. But, according to the director, he won't be making the film anymore. "I've already handed over the script of the film to a friend," Sujoy says. Two Akshay Kumar starrers are expected to arrive in the same month. Reportedly, Vipul Shah's ACTION REPLAY is confirmed for 9th April, while Sajid Nadiadwala's HOUSEFULL is confirmed for 30th April. Salman Khan's VEER, directed by Anil Sharma, is almost complete. "We will wrap the entire shooting by 5th/6th November. Right now, we are looking at releasing the film in January - it could be 22nd or 29th January," Anil Sharma confirmed to this writer. One of the keenly-awaited films was supposed to release in the first quarter of 2010, but the release has been shifted to April 2010.
No panga with Akki: Vipul Shah unplugged
Everyone's aware that Rajkumar Santoshi was supposed to direct LONDON DREAMS initially, before Vipul Shah took over. But not many are aware that Vipul re-wrote and changed the entire script that Santoshi was to make. "I've just retained one sequence from that script," the talented film-maker tells me. The film-maker has a fantastic track record, with AANKHEN, WAQT, NAMASTEY LONDON and SINGH IS KINNG receiving a warm welcome from moviegoers. The viewers are bound to compare LONDON DREAMS with Vipul's earlier works. "I am not worried. I feel I've only evolved as a storyteller with LONDON DREAMS. I strongly feel that this is my best film to date," he says with utmost modesty. There's talk that the film bears a striking resemblance to ROCK ON!!, YAARANA [Amitabh, Amjad Khan], SAAJAN and even ABHIMAAN. "Well, they were great films, but LONDON DREAMS is not remotely similar to any film. The sole similarity with ROCK ON!! is that the protagonists have a music band. In fact, when I signed Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for LONDON DREAMS, the sole request was, don't give me any tune that's similar to ROCK ON!!," Vipul clarifies. Another rumour doing the rounds is that there's friction in Vipul and Akshay Kumar's friendship. "You may find this hard to believe, but Akshay was the first person I spoke to about the casting [Salman and Ajay]. His instant reaction was, it's an ideal cast. If at all there was any friction, we would've been unable to complete ACTION REPLAY in a record time. Also, we wouldn't be contemplating starting SINGH IS KINNG 2, if we weren't on good terms," Vipul states. While on SINGH IS KINNG 2, there's talk that Vipul will direct the second instalment himself [Anees Bazmee had directed the first part]. "It's still undecided. My first choice would be Anees-ji, but if he's over-committed with work, I'd take the directorial reins in my hand," Vipul reveals.

Zayed Khan's parents traumatized after watching Blue
When Sanjay and Zarine Khan watched their son Zayed do those never-before heart-in-the-mouth motorcycle stunts in Blue, they threw a royal fit. Ever since his near-fatal fire accident in 1989 in Mysore during the shooting of the serial 'The Sword Of Tipu Sultan' during which Sanjay Khan suffered extensive burns and almost lost his life, both he and his wife are paranoid about shooting mishaps.
When their only son Zayed decided to become a movie actor, Sanjay and Zarine's first and only pre-condition was no dangerous stunts. Says Zayed, "It was almost like a holy diktat, not to perform anything that would potentially harmful to me." Until Blue, where, on the script level itself, Zayed could see that his two lengthy mo'bike chase sequences on the 'Ducati 999' were potentially more lethal than anything the average action hero performs. Says Zayed, "I had two options. Either say no to the most exciting role I had been offered so far. Or hide the truth from my parents." Zayed chose the latter option. And went on to do the most explosive mo'bike stunts with his heart in his mouth. "Not because I was scared but what would my parents think and say when they saw what I had done." When Sanjay and Zarine Khan saw Blue, their reaction was worse than what Zayed had anticipated. Zayed's parents were distraught. Their horror mounted as the couple saw their son whiz past the most dangerous check posts ever created for a stunt actor. Says Zayed, "When I saw their reaction, I had to do some quick thinking or else my parents would have truly freaked out and probably ordered me to give up movies. My helmet which covered my face through most of the mo'bike racing saved me. I told them it was a body-double doing those stunts." The fact is Zayed did most of the action scenes. "Am I some kind of a sissy to let a stuntman do them? No way! I had accepted the role only so I could do these stunts. Except the moment when my bike jumps on to a train, all the other stunts are mine. And that train stunt, I didn't do because my action director said he wanted me to be alive to complete the film." After reading this, Zayed hopes his parents would accept the truth. "If you are an actor you got to do it all. One can be wounded even while standing under a roof. Jo hona hoga woh hoga."
