Elite Dangerous: Guardians 2.2: Everything you need to know

Remember Elite’s CQC (close-quarters combat) Championship, its lesser loved multiplayer arena combat mode? While it’s not getting the overhaul it arguably needs—nor is the now-postponed £75,000 ($100,000) CQC tournament making a comeback—Frontier is taking some of the best bits of CQC and bringing them to the wider Elite universe as part of the upcoming Elite Dangerous: Guardians 2.2 update in October.

The big news: single-seat, ship-launched fighters based on the CQC fighter designs. The idea is that players will be able to launch one of these fighters and pilot it remotely, issuing commands back to the mothership. You could tell the mothership to stay put, for instance, to keep it out of harm’s way, or tell it to follow the fighter and go in all guns blazing. You can hot swap between the two ships too, opening up some particularly devious attack patterns.

There are three fighters available. The F63 Condor federal fighter and GU97 imperial fighter are identical their CQC counterparts, the former sporting the fastest acceleration in exchange for manoeuvrability and hull strength, the latter being more fragile but more manoeuvrable. More exciting is the Taipan fighter, which is new to the game. The most tank-like of the three ships, the Taipan trades speed and manoeuvrability for hull strength and shields, making it a particularly good option for heavy combat. Plus, it has a neat swing-wing design that makes it look far more intimidating than the other fighters.

The Apple Store is now simply 'Apple,' company says

It’s called Apple, not the Apple Store.

The Cupertino company has decreed that its chain of retail stores will now only be referred to thusly in what seems to be part of an ongoing attempt to rebrand them from shopping destinations to community gathering places of sorts.

Apple’s new flagship store in downtown San Francisco opened as simply “Apple Union Square” in May, and now, the company’s website shows, many other stores, like “Apple Fifth Avenue”and “Apple World Trade Center,” are following suit and losing the “Store.”

Samsung decides to send free gift to T-Mobile customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 7 early

T-Mobile’s rush to start pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 before the clock struck 12 midnight August 3rd on the West Coast, might have backfired in its customers’ faces. T-Mobile customers who purchased the high-end phablet between August 3rd and August 28th are supposed to receive a Gear Fit, 256GB microSD card or a free year of Netflix. But for some customers of the nation’s third largest carrier, Samsung was refusing their claim for the free gift they selected.

Even more leaked images of the Moto Z Play surface

Design-wise, not much seems to have changed. Just like the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, it has a fingerprint scanner on the front and a huge camera hump on the back. However, it seems as though the back of the Moto Z Play will be made of either plastic or glass instead of aluminum. Let’s hope it’s glass.

And of course, with Motorola’s current focus on modularity, it wouldn’t make sense if the Moto Z Play didn’t support Moto Mod accessories. As you can see in the leaked images, the back of the device feature similar connector dots that we saw in the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force.

With it being a mid-ranger, the Moto Z Play may be the answer to the future of modular phones. One of the concerns with the Moto Z – or any other modular phone for that matter – is that modular accessories are simply way too expensive. If the phone itself is cheaper, however, perhaps consumers will be more inclined to cough up a few hundred dollars.

Daughter gives her 100-year-old mother the high school graduation she never had

One thing’s for sure: you’re never too old to learn.

Massachusetts woman Clare Picciuto turned 100 Friday, and she received an early birthday present Wednesday that was well worth the wait: the high school graduation she never had.

Clare’s daughter, Deborah Picciuto told ABC News that over 80 years ago the Great Depression got in the way of her mother starting high school. Instead of pursuing her education, Clare was asked by her parents to leave school and start working.

Condoms haven’t gotten a meaningful upgrade in decades. So what might one be worth?

According to Indiegogo backers, it’s $1 million.

Future condom-owners donated that much to the Swedish intimacy company LELO, which promises to produce LELO Hex, a condom completely redesigned for both effectiveness and pleasure.

“LELO Hex comes as a giant leap forward in the fight for great, safe sex – with a structurally different design, that means you can see and feel the difference,” the company says.
