Big B irked at sudden removal of Abhishek's AV from World Earth Day event

Amitabh BachchanBy now its common knowledge that Amitabh Bachchan was engulfed in a controversial situation last week when he attended the opening ceremony of the second phase of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. Apparently, a certain prominent political party was upset at Bachchan's presence at this high profile event especially after him promoting Gujarat tourism. Not one to react unnecessarily to any situation, Big B has maintained a stoic calm even in this situation. However, things took an ugly turn on Saturday when in a strange turn of events, Abhishek Bachchan's specially recorded AV was removed from the event to create awareness about the World Earth Hour. This has not gone down well with Big B who has openly expressed his displeasure on his blog. Writes Big B, "You are perhaps aware that Abhishek has been appointed the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) ambassador for Earth Day, a campaign that has been initiated by WWF for the preservation of the earth. Many ads in the press have been announcing, with his photograph in place, that on the 27th of March let the entire country observe a simple ritual of putting off the electricity in their homes for an hour from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM. At the India Gate on Rajpath a ceremony is being held today (27 March) to announce the campaign and to make people aware of this most noble cause. An audio visual has been prepared with Abhishek where he is seeking a pledge towards preservation of the Earth and requesting people to switch off their lights for an hour. The Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs. Sheila Dixit, and a prominent member of the ruling Congress Party, is attending the moment. A few hours before the show was to start apparently the audio visual featuring Abhishek has been asked to be removed and banner posters bearing his photograph as Ambassador have been stopped from being displayed!! I wonder why?? Abhishek, who has been working so hard on the cause, is obviously disappointed, especially since he had worked late into the night where he was shooting out of town to accommodate this creative!! And I wonder. Am I hallucinating, or is there a pattern in all this!!!??" Even Junior Bachchan who went all out to promote this Noble cause on the occasion of World Earth Day seemed upset by this move. Like Big B says, one wonders if this move has been guided by ulterior political motives. Your guess is as good as ours!
