Samir Karnik's next with Bobby Deol titled Curfew
Though the two senior Deols, Dharmendra and his elder son Sunny Deol, are doing a film with Anil Sharma, instead of their Yamla Pagla Deewana director Samir Karnik, the youngest Deol scion Bobby has decided to go along with his buddy Karnik. The two are now going to be working on a film titled Curfew, a hard-hitting drama based on the 1984 Hindu-Sikh riots.
Karnik who is at the moment writing his script admits his next film will star only Bobby and the not the other two Deols. Says Karnik, "I'm indeed making a film with Bobby next. But that doesn't mean I've had any kind of stress with the Deols. The sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana is work under progress. With Bobby, I share a completely different equation as compared with Sunny. With Sunny I'm formal. Bobby is my buddy. He has starred in every single film of mine, from my first film Nanhe Jaisalmer to Yamla Pagla Deewana. Recently when I won the equivalent of Rs. 1 lakh for Nanhe Jaisalmer at a film festival, Bobby and I freaked out." About the Deols doing a film with their old family friend Anil Sharma, Karnik comments, "We aren't bonded to do films together forever. But yes, I'd never direct a film without Bobby. I'm glad Dharamji, Sunny and Bobby are doing a 3D film. In fact we were supposed to make parts of Yamla Pagla Deewana in 3D. But the economics didn't work out." Shedding light on his film with Bobby, Samir says, "Curfew will be an international film. We'll shoot it outside India."

Ram Gopal Varma postpones Department by a month
If there is anything that Ram Gopal Varma hates more than mushy romantic films, it's cricket. "I can't stand it. I can't bear to be anywhere near a television set or anywhere any person who talks cricket."
To avoid all the cricket on Saturday, Ramu did what he hadn't done for years. He trotted off to a multiplex to watch the two releases this weekâ¦Abhinay Deo's Game and Remo D'Souza's F.A.L.T.U. But only one-half of each film. Says Ramu, "I went in the evening show, saw the first-half of Game, then I hopped over the adjoining screen to watch the second-half of F.A.L.T.U. Believe me, it was an eye-opening experience." Ramu quizzed the audience about the two films and has now decided to postpone the shooting of his big Bollywood multi-Starrer by a month. Explains Ramu, "Why are big production houses suffering serious setbacks? Are they not in touch with reality? We were supposed to start Department in April. Now we begin at the end of the May. I've already understood how the basic economics of filmmaking needs to be revised. Now I need to explore what audiences want. Not that I'll change anything in my script. But what is that encourages audiences to warm up to F.A.L.T.U? Is it about making films with youngsters for youngsters?
