Future has released an unparalleled amount of material in the past two years, and most of it has been about codeine, promethazine, empty sex, revenge sex, hate sex, more codeine and more promethazine. And we’re still listening.
What’s always pulled us in has been the way he does it — the way he seems to haphazardly throw out lines yet still sound poetic, the way his words seem to trip over themselves but are clever and sharp. In recent releases it’s an underlying feeling that Future is in on all of it — lines about his countless sexual conquests are delivered with, yes, braggadocio, but also bitterness and at times self-loathing. …
