Guardian Australia has released thousands of leaked reports online Wednesday, detailing cases of abuse, self-harm and sexual harassment within one of Australia’s offshore detention facilities.
Taking place on the island of Nauru, more than 2,000 incident reports have been compiled in an interactive database called “The Nauru Files,” which charts occurrences of shocking abuse in the detention centre over the last three years.

The result is an accessible and powerful illustration of one of Australia’s deepest shames — its treatment of refugees and asylum seekers placed in mandatory detention — all because they were desperate enough to attempt arriving in Australia by boat. …
