NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Donald Trump declared in Thursday’s debate that he will “gladly accept the mantle of anger” ascribed to him by South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) earlier this week
And he’s using every shade of that emotion as he fights to stay atop the GOP field.
Days after Haley warned Republicans to resist their party’s “angriest voices,” Trump smiled, called her a friend as he scanned the audience for the governor, and agreed with her description of his views.

“She did say there was anger. I’m very angry because our country is being run horribly and I will gladly accept the mantle of anger,” he said to cheers before launching into a litany of complaints about President Obama’s America. …
