With the click of a URL, anyone without Skype can still join a conversation

Skype is making it easier for literally anyone to chat long-distance.


On Thursday, the platform launched an update that lets anyone join a conversation, even if they don’t have Skype. Share a unique link with someone via email, Facebook, WhatsApp, you name it, and anyone can join via Skype for Web. No Skype account or app download necessary. And they’re not limited as to the kind of chat either. Video, voice and instant messaging are all part of the package.

Users in the US and UK can start, share or join a conversation from Skype for Mac, Skype for Windows and Skype for Web. Just click +New in your Skype window and share the unique link. A guest can just click the link and enter his or her name to join. Check out the video above to see it in action. …
