I dont understand how YRF can have double standards - Rohan Sippy

Sep 24, 5:02PM

Rhea Chakraborty's next release Sonali Cable was set to release on big screen on October 10, however now we hear that the film has been pushed to October 17. Apparently, the producer Rohan Sippy wanted Rhea to promote the film for some more time before the release and hence changed the release date. But unfortunately it turns out that Yash Raj Films, which manages Rhea's work, has not allotted Rhea's dates to the filmmaker.

A inside source close of the filmmaker says, "YRF was informed in advance about this possible change of date and in any case, small budget films need to be promoted. So we need Rhea's dates but YRF has not given her dates for a week. It's unfortunate that they are doing this with regards to their talent working for another producer."

Rohan Sippy confirms that they are currently facing issues with Rhea's dates. "I don't know if she can promote the film or not. But it's strange that Rhea's management is not reverting to us about her dates. Since she plays the title character, we can't finalize the promotion schedule," he says.

The filmmaker adds that young actors should understand the importance of promoting a film; even the super stars make themselves free and promote it. "This helps their producers create visibility for them. I don't understand how YRF can have double standards. Recently, they pushed ahead Dawaat-e-Ishq's release and I'm sure they expected Aditya and Parineeti to promote their film for some more time. It's a given that a film has to be promoted closer to its release. Hopefully, we will get Rhea's dates," he says.

Rhea's spokesperson from YRF said, "While Sonali Cable is a big and important film for Rhea, she has several contractual commitments that were finalized months in advance. Bank Chor, where she plays the lead opposite Riteish Deshmukh, is just one of them. She will do her best to promote the film and do all that is required of her."

Sonali Cable, starring Rhea Chakraborty, Ali Fazal, Raghav Juyal and Anupam Kher, written and directed by Charudutt Acharya, produced by Ramesh Sippy, Rohan Sippy, Roopa de Choudhury and Kamia Mulhotra under the banner of Ramesh Sippy Entertainment in association with BombayMania Production Pvt. Ltd. and is a HBS Raksha Movies Fund release.

Though speculations about Kaminey 2 have been doing rounds for a while, it is only now that Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj decided to reveal about their third outing together.

While Haider is the Indian adaptation of the famous Shakespearean play Hamlet, Kaminey 2 will be a genuine pulp fiction. Kaminey had tasted critical acclaim and audience appreciation. Also, the music had gained popularity, especially the club number 'Dhan Te Nan'. An excited Shahid Kapoor also revealed that this time around too, Kaminey 2 will have an amazing re-interpretation of the same song but in the form of a romantic version.

In fact, Shahid Kapoor revealed that Vishal Bhardwaj already has the ready script. Once Haider releases, Vishal's team will soon complete the screenplay of the Kaminey 2.

The first installment had Shahid Kapoor playing a double role along with Priyanka Chopra playing the female lead. The film also had Amole Gupte and Chandan Roy Sanyal among others portraying prominent roles. However, for the sequel, the leading lady and the other casting details are yet to be finalized. For now, Shahid Kapoor is busy concentrating on other commitments.

The actor recently wrapped the first shoot schedule of Vikas Bahl's Shandaar with Alia Bhatt in UK. Shahid Kapoor is currently busy promoting Haider along with his co-star Shraddha Kapoor. Haider produced by Vishal Bhardwaj in association with UTV, also stars Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others and is slated to release on October 2. Post this, the actor will also be seen playing the role of a con artist in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.'s next directorial Farzi.

UTV acquires Sajid Nadiadwalas three films for Rs 200 crores

Sep 24, 10:37AM

Sajid Nadiadwala who made his directorial debut earlier this year with Kick seems to be on a roll. After the subsequent release and success of Kick, Sajid has fast become one name that keeps recurring. In fact last week we reported that Eros had acquired Sajid's next Housefull 3, that will commence shooting next year, for Rs. 100 crores. Now we hear that UTV has also decided to partake of Sajid's success.

It is learnt that UTV has acquired the rights for Sajid Nadiadwala's next three films, namely Phantom featuring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, Tamasha starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and Sabir Khan's next featuring Tiger Shroff. However, the interesting part of the said deal is that UTV has shelled out a whooping Rs. 200 crores as a minimum guarantee, with additional revenue that will come in from overflow from collections and other sales to acquire the three films.

Though official confirmation on the same is still pending, Phantom is expected to release in April next year, while Tamasha is under production. Housefull 3 takes off in Jan 2015.

Rekha loved Sonam Kapoors Khoobsurat

Sep 24, 10:36AM

Finally the iconic Rekha saw what Sonam Kapoor has done to her iconic part in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Khoobsurat.

On Tuesday night Rekha finally saw Khoobsurat after a lot of persuasion and procrastination.

A source close to the Kapoors says, "Rekha is very close to Anil and his wife Sunita. Rekha loves Rhea and Sonam and treats them like her own daughters. Sonam is especially close to Rekha's heart. But very honestly Rekha was wary of seeing the Khoobsurat remake after what had happened with the remake of her other iconic film Umrao Jaan."

Anil and his daughters "worked their charms" on Rekha and she finally agreed to see the film.

Says Anil, "She loved the film and she loved Sonam. Rekha said Sonam has nailed the character. What better compliment can there be for Sonam?"

Says Sonam, "I wasn't at the screening. My sister was there. I heard Rekhaji loved the film. I know she loves me. She says I'm the daughter she never had."

Rekha in an interview some years ago said to me, "I remember Hrishida calling me to his home. 'I see you in this role as a little daughter. You aren't just a mischievous brat but you don't want to be told what to do. But you've great values. So you do the right things.' That's how Hrishida conceived the character in Khoobsurat for me. Then later he made a kind of sequel to Khoobsurat entitled Jhoothi. I didn't have to depend on dialogues or scenes."

Rekha continued, "Hrishida was a fellow-Libran. He called me Chinnapunnu the Tamil term for 'Little Daughter'. I did some of my best work with him. Hrishida was like a father-figure. He would give me dirty looks if I behaved loudly. Please remember, I was only 13 when I came into the industry. We shot Khoobsurat in his house, so I didn't feel I was shooting a film. Hrishida was such a fantastic editor. Before he reached the sets he had already completed the editing in his mind. That's when I realized what a fantastic craftsman he was and I got interested in editing. Hrishida could concentrate on chess on the sets and still shoot the perfect shot. It didn't mean he wasn't paying attention to the actors. I slowly understood and appreciated him."

My father is better Kunal confirms Shashi Kapoors recovery

Sep 24, 10:29AM

Confirming his father's recovery Shashi Kapoor's son Kunal said on Monday evening, "He's getting better. He will come home in a couple of days."

Karishma Tanna on entering Bigg Boss

Sep 24, 10:20AM

Karishma Tanna doesn't know how she will cope with the unpredictable goings-on inside Bigg Boss house. But cope, she will.

"I was offered Bigg Boss every season. But I always said no, because I felt it wasn't my scene. Every contestant in there is expected to put on a mask. I can't do it."

Curiously, Karishma goes into Bigg Boss at a time when her movie career is taking off.

Says the spirited actress, "Yes, it's true after Grand Masti I've just completed Tina & Lolo. And I've another film with Viacom 18. But this is the right time for me to do Bigg Boss. Because it gives me visibility. Also, since my third film is with Viacom (the parent company for the channel Colors) my publicity dates for the film will be coordinated so as to not clash with my innings in Bigg Boss."

Karishma Tanna says she is petrified of what lies ahead at Bigg Boss. "I don't have a strategy. You can't plan any strategy until you are in the middle of it. I am freaking out with nervousness and anxiety. My biggest fear is the loss of my personal space. When you're inside Bigg Boss you have absolutely no privacy. That thought is freaking me out. Secondly the food is severely rationed in there. I eat every two hours. Even fruits are rationed. Plus I am on a diet to look my best for my movies. So I don't know how I'll cope. I hope I don't come out royally jacked."

Ashutosh Gowariker files complaint against union members for disrupting shoot

Sep 23, 2:25PM

After Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Ashutosh Gowariker is now busy with his magnum opus Mohenjo Daro. The film which went on floors recently in Bhuj, Gujarat is now caught up in a crisis after the workers around the set refused to complete the work and hence the shoot was stalled for about three days.

These union members who belong to Allied Mazdoor Union and Film Studio Setting claimed that they had stopped their work owing to non-payment of their dues. In fact, Gangeshwar Srivastava, general secretary of the union, mentioned that their members have been on the set for more than a month but they weren't provided their remuneration neither were the regular expenses covered. He also further added that they had to send money to them for performing the Vishwakarma Pooja on September 17.

As the work was stalled, producer Ashutosh Gowariker decided to take the legal route and lodged a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council accusing the members of stalling work that will result to losses in the company.

However, Lawrence D'Souza, executive producer of the film maintained that though they had the payments ready, since the shooting venue was located in Bhuj, the fees could not reach the workers on time.

Co-produced by UTV, Mohenjo Daro is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and it stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The film, which will also be extensively shot in South Africa, is slated to release on January 22, 2016.

Priyanka Chopra wins Hrithik Roshans Bang Bang dare challenge

Sep 23, 12:12PM

Hrithik Roshan over the years has acquired the status of being Bollywood Greek god thanks to his well built and chiseled physique. The actor who is currently gearing up for his next release Bang Bang, recently challenged Priyanka Chopra to a dare on twitter. In fact the actor posted on twitter saying, "The only girl I cud dare this! For super @priyankachopra my #bangbangdare HANDSTAND with a push up!! Do u accept! U have 3 days!"

Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra who has been in her best form till date, thanks to her recent release Mary Kom, took up the challenge to perform pushups while doing a hand stand. If that wasn't enough the actress took the challenge a notch higher by performing the same wearing high heels. Posting a video of herself accomplishing the feat, Priyanka posted, "Here you go Hrithik Roshan...a handstand with 3 push ups! In high heels! #bangbangdare ...next time try and make it a little difficult"

Post viewing the video an obviously stunned Hrithik took to twitter again congratulating the actress saying, "Give it up 4super peecee guys! Unbelievable!!
