What will happen to 4 million dumped Samsung Note7s?

Samsung’s busted Galaxy Note7 phone may have become a punchline, but 4.3 million dumped devices is no joke to the environment, Greenpeace warns.

Now that the Korean phone giant has recalled millions of the devices after a recent global fiasco in which multiple devices were found to be fire hazards, it’s important to dispose of them in a safe way, the environmental group says.

If the phones end up in a landfill or get burned, they’ll release toxic chemicals into the air. Metals in the phones such as tungsten, cobalt, silver and gold are also worth recycling.

Samsung's W2017 is a high-end flip phone with Snapdragon 820 and 4GB RAM

There is a market for flip phones — particularly in Asian countries — which is why companies like Samsung and LG continue to make them. After rolling out the high-end W2016 in China at the end of last year, Samsung is now looking to unveil the W2017 in the country, a flip phone powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820.

The clamshell has a pair of 4.2-inch Full HD displays (one on the outside and one on the inside), 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, microSD slot, 12MP camera with 4K video recording, 5MP front shooter, dual-SIM with LTE, NFC, wireless charging, fingerprint sensor, and a 2300mAh battery.

No mention of an official price, but SamMobile notes that the W2017 could end up costing an astounding ¥20,000 ($2,960). That’s twice as costly as last year’s W2016, which debuted for ¥9,999 ($1,480). Given that the W2016 hasn’t made its way to other markets, it is likely that its successor will be limited to China as well.

Las Vegas pet store sells native Australian wallabies and it's messed up

Sure, it might be perfectly legal in the U.S. state of Nevada, but there’s something very unsettling about seeing wallabies — a protected species in Australia — up for sale at a pet store.

They were selling the small, kangaroo-like marsupials, native to Australia. Sad face.

Amazon is about to 'destroy the retail environment' in Australia, report says

Being geographically distanced from much of the world’s major centres, Australians rely heavily on online shopping to supply them with the latest “stuff.” And how we love us some stuff.

From Sep. 2017, Amazon is launching proper in Australia. The U.S. shopping giant will be dropping anchor, offering general products and fresh groceries from a specifically-made Australian platform.

And together with distribution and performance centres in every Australian state, it’ll also have brick-and-mortar stores in regional areas, reports the …

Woody Harrelson plays a glorious weirdo in first trailer for Daniel Clowes' NSFW comedy 'Wilson'

Woody Harrelson is one of Hollywood’s greatest actors yet he rarely gets his due, which is why we’re doubly excited to see him front-and-center in Wilson, Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of Daniel Clowes’ satirical graphic novel.
