We Need To Save Large Mammals From Extinction Before It's Too Late

Elephants are majestic, amazing creatures, but they could be in trouble, along with other species of large mammals. If they disappear, we’d be robbed of the chance to see these giant animals roaming the Earth in their awe-inspiring glory.

On the road, and trail, with 30 years of diesel-powered Land Rovers

“Dude, you’re rolling coal,” my copilot hollered at me from the lefthand passenger seat of my 1986 Land Rover Defender.

“Huh?” I replied, leaning over for a better look at the sideview mirror. To my chagrin, I saw plumes of black smoke pouring out of the tailpipe of the old truck. “Oh, son of a…!” I shouted. “I wonder what that’s about?”

Pushing full throttle up the mountains outside Big Bear, California, my four-cylinder diesel-powered British 4×4 was doing about 37 mph — 7 mph shy of the 45 mph speed limit. Meanwhile, it was churning out a smokescreen that would make James Bond’s gadget guru, Q, green with envy (and perhaps also with nausea from the fumes). …

Heavy rotation: The tabletop games we’ve been playing this summer

This weekend, the Ars Cardboard crew is drowning in a sea of tabletop games at the annual Gen Con gaming convention in Indianapolis. We’re filling our bags with the newest, shiniest titles and demoing everything under the sun to bring you a thorough cataloguing of all the hot titles you should be looking forward to in the coming months.

But before we unceremoniously abandon all the games on our shelves to fall headlong into the new hotness, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on a few of the games we’ve been enjoying a lot lately. Some are new, some are old—but they’re all great.

We’ve been hitting the Spiel des Jahres games pretty hard, and we can’t get enough of Scythe, but we’ll keep this list focused on titles we haven’t been talking about ad nauseum for weeks.

9 times British brands slammed haters on social media

Which phone will survive this drop test, the Motorola Moto Z Force or the Samsung Galaxy S 7 Active?

A drop test between the Motorola Moto Z Force and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is a bit unusual. Both models have some protection from drops. The Moto Z Force features a shatterproof screen, and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active is a rugged handset designed to withstand drops from up to 5-feet onto a flat service.

The first test was the back drop from 1 meter (3.3-feet) high. While this would seem to be a breeze for the Galaxy S7 Active, it was the Moto Z Force that held up the best between the two. Thanks to the placement of the connectors for the Moto Mods right on the back of the Moto … – Source
