SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — In the final few years of Tashfeen Malik’s life, the people around the young woman saw her dress ever more conservatively and urge people ever more ardently to live a devout life.
For an aunt in Malik’s old hometown in Pakistan, Malik’s growing religious focus was one of the last things she heard about her 29-year-old niece — before last week, when she learned that her niece and her niece’s husband had donned masks, hoisted assault rifles and killed 14 people in a rampage in Southern California.

It was as cold as it gets in the San Fernando Valley…so about 65° F
The rest of my Hebrew school class had dutifully gone back inside to learn about King Antiochus and eat foil-wrapped gelt at the Hanukkah party
I hid behind a handball court and waited until everyone was inside. Then, I quickly ran over to the edge of the court and pressed my nose against the wrought iron playground gate, looking at the house across the street.
On the lawn, there was a cheerful sleigh helmed by a glowing Santa and filled with plastic presents. Fake snow decorated the windows and twinkling lights framed the garage. An adorable reindeer pranced across the roof …

There’s little dispute among you – the Xperia Z5 Premium is yet another Sony entry on the hot side of our imaginary Hot or Not wall. Stopping by for our customary poll, Sony’s latest top-shelf device left naysayers outnumbered 3 to 1, continuing a positive trend with Sony devices of late.
A lot has been said on the 4K display conundrum, and we’ve also contributed with a dedicated display test, on top of the usual review. And regardless of where you stand on the matter, having the sole UltraHD screen in a smartphone on the market does score the Premium points for exclusivity – always a factor when it comes to a handset’s appeal.
It’s not just flair, there’s plenty to like under the Z5 Premium’s mirror surface, and the majority of you seem to have picked up on that. Top-end specs are a given at its market position and the all-new 23MP camera and Snapdragon 810 chip are sure to entice, troubled as the fastest Qualcomm SoC might be.
Sure, you weren’t particularly excited about the battery life, and pricing could have been easier on the wallet, but who’s without their…

Huawei has released more than its share of desirable handsets this year. The Huawei Mate S, with its near bezel-less 5.5-inch AMOLED screen and Kirin 935 chipset, is one of them. Of course, there is the stock Android Nexus 6P. With a 5.7-inch screen carrying a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution screen, this has been a very popular model. As a result, Huawei’s first foray into the world of Nexus has been a very successful one.
For Huawei, the hits keep on coming. Late last month, the Huawei Mate 8 was unveiled. According to Huawei smartphone chief He Gang, the phone will be launched on December 9th, … – Source
Move over, New York City
There’s a new sexy city, and it just so happens to be on the golden coast.

EliteSingles spokesperson Charlotte Bridge tells Mashable that the company was surprised by the results of the study.
“There were a lot of big places missing that we would have expected to see in the top 10,” she said. “I guess users outside of New York and LA were most confident about themselves and their appearances which in itself is very attractive.” …

Asus this year introduced so many ZenFone smartphones that we can barely keep track of them (not to mention that some models have special editions – like the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition). One of Asus’ newest handsets is the ZenFone Max, which hasn’t been released yet, despite the fact that it was supposed to go on sale in October.
Earlier this week, the ZenFone Max was showcased in an official promo video (embedded above), which likely means that Asus is finally ready to launch it. The promo video presents the smartphone’s highlight features, starting with its massive 5000 … – Source

Dozens of employees of the San Bernardino County Health Department went to a work event on Wednesday, not knowing that hours later the packed conference room would be attacked by one of their own
Just after 11 am, Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik fired dozens of rounds indiscriminately into the room as people leapt behind toppled tables to survive the barrage of bullets.
Shannon Johnson, 45, and coworker Denise Peraza, 27, were in the room as the pair opened fire, and crouched behind a chair
“I got you,” said Johnson, as he wrapped his arm around her, shielding her from the gunfire.
Johnson died in the attack that took the lives of 14 people and left 21 others injured. Peraza survived, though she was shot in the back, and she says Johnson is the reason she is still alive. …
