Weekend poll: MWC expectations - what device are you looking forward to?

The Mobile World Congress officially starts on February 22, but announcements will start even earlier than that. Which phone are you most excited about?

The Samsung and LG have events set for the day before, the 21st, and obviously, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S7 (along with edge and edge+ variants) and the LG G5.

The LG G5 will scale back the screen size a touch, it will add Always On functionality and bring the next generation camera upgrade. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to bring back things the S6 lost – things like S5’s water resistance and the microSD slot.

Sony’s event is scheduled for the next day, the 22nd. But this is too soon for the Xperia Z6, so what then? Well, the Xperia C6 is the rumor mill’s best guess.

Unlike Sony, Xiaomi’s February 24 event is pretty clear – the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be the star. Hugo Barra even posted camera samples from the phone this week. Interestingly, the phone may have a Windows variant so we’ll be on the lookout for Microsoft employees.

You’ll have a week to vote, by that time we’ll have arrived in Barcelona. We will attend these events and report first-hand impressions if these devices have lived up to…

18.4-inch Samsung Galaxy View now priced at $449.99 at Amazon

Since its release last November, retailers selling the Samsung Galaxy View have dropped its price from $599.99 to the current low of $449.99 from Amazon. That is a price cut of 25%. Most likely, these companies are having a hard time finding buyers for such a huge tablet. Samsung is not marketing this as a regular slate, but as a large screened device for multi-media use.

The 18.4-inch screen features a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This works out to a pixel density of 120ppi, the lowest we have seen in some time. An Exynos 7580 chipset is under the hood, featuring an octa-core 1.6GHz CPU … – Source

Kanye West brings 'High Lights' to 'Saturday Night Live'

Kanye West brought some “High Lights” to the Saturday Night Live stage this weekend.

The rapper performed the new track on NBC’s sketch show Saturday with help from a small squad of friends including Young Thug, The Dream, El DeBarge and Kelly Price. Donning a glitzy jacket (likely Balmain, a regular West choice) and acid wash jeans, ‘Ye performed the track in front of a glitchy, colorful background that kind of looks like his new video game

“High Life” is one of the tracks on ‘Ye’s newest album, The Life of Pablo

He recently debuted the song on Feb. 11, during his Yeezy Season 3 fashion show at Madison Square Garden. Millions livestreamed the event on Tidal, tuning in to hear one of the …

Nothing matters, including facts

The audience at Saturday’s Republican presidential debate booed moderator John Dickerson when he tried to clarify when exactly Justice Anthony Kennedy was nominated and confirmed to the Supreme Court. (The discussion surrounded the replacement of Justice Antonin Scalia, who died Saturday.)

The Probable, The Possible, The Delusional

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy committed before a joint session of Congress that before the end of the decade America would put a man on the moon. This was not an empty political promise to get elected, but a commitment of a sitting President boldly exposing himself to political ridicule in the face of failure. If we can take ourselves back to that moment, it would be fascinating to… Read More

Why did this Ghostbuster throw two handsets belonging to fans, off of a rooftop terrace?

Bill Murray is obviously a complicated guy. You can’t be a normal person and summon up the ability to portray the characters he did in movies like “What about Bob?” and “Groundhog Day.” Like many actors, Murray isn’t enamored of the new world we live in where everyone is a paparazzi thanks to the camera on the back of their smartphone.

The 65-year old actor was attending a party at the Vesuvio lounge in Carmel, California that was hosted by Justin Timberlake when he thought he saw flashes going off from multiple handsets. Upset that diners at the restaurant were snapping pictures of him, … – Source
