FLIR and Movidius create the smartest thermal camera out there

This morning FLIR Systems announced a new product—the Boson Thermal Core Camera. Regardless of product features, two things interest me about the launch of the Boson. One is the continued trend in miniaturization and its implications on interactive eyewear. The second is the fact that the Boson has a processor integrated directly into it. As a trend, this is called system-on-sensor. Read More

Google and Oracle settlement talks fail; dispute now heads back to court

Back in 2010, Oracle accused Google of using Java’s API without licensing it from them. Google claimed that API’s can’t be patented and while the lower court agreed, that decision was partially reversed two years ago. Since then, the Supreme Court remanded the case back to the lower court for trial. Oracle, claiming that Google has made $22 billion from Android over the years, is seeking $9.3 billion from the search giant. Only $475 million of that figure is for actual damages, while the remaining $8.83 billion covers profits Google made from selling mobile ads and apps over Android.

Seeing a "Could not start Messenger" error on Android? Here's how to avoid it

When the app crashes, Android displays a “Could not start Messenger” error message at the bottom of the screen, and you have to re-open … – Source

Awesome dad invents tool to help scared son pick up spiders

Thank god for the digital revolution, here to give us even more adorable ways to slaughter pesky spiders.

Irish dad Tony Allen’s son has always been afraid of spiders (for totally legitimate reasons that none of us should ever mock). But Allen didn’t always want to kill the spiders he caught, so instaed he invented a new device to capture and release spiders. He calls it ‘The Critter Catcher,”and yes, it is flawless.

SEE ALSO: This spider from New Zealand has lightning fast jaws

‘The Creater Catcher’ combines the elegance of an everyday mop, with the speed and utility of a shoe heel. No, it won’t kill the spider automatically. But it will collect it and release it in the location of your choice, somewhere safe where you’ll never have to touch it again (hell). …
