According to her owner, Nala’s favorite season is winter, and she’s always trying to get her humans to come outside and play in the snow with her. Unfortunately, they’re a little more interested in warm blankets and hot chocolate.

Senator says U.S. should force airlines to give you legroom

NEW YORK — U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer wants to require the Federal Aviation Administration to establish seat-size standards for commercial airlines, which he says now force passengers to sit on planes “like sardines.”

The New York Democrat told the Associated Press the airlines have been slowly cutting down legroom and seat width.

“One of the most vexing things when you travel on an airplane is there’s almost no legroom on your standard flight,” Schumer said. “There’s been constant shrinkage by the airlines.”

He said he will add an amendment to the FAA Reauthorization Bill that is pending before Congress that would require the agency to set the seat-size guidelines. Schumer planned to formally announce the proposal at a news conference Sunday. …

Raspberry Pi 3 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a faster processor

Four years after launching the original Raspberry Pi, an ultra-cheap, barebones and tiny but surprisingly versatile PC, the Raspberry Pi Foundation launched the third major iteration of the same product.

The Raspberry Pi 3 has a new, 1.2GHz, 64-bit, quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor, offering roughly ten times the performance of the Raspberry Pi 1, according to the foundation. It also comes with integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1, and is fully compatible with both Raspberry Pi 1 and 2.

The rest of the specs are roughly the same as those of the Pi 2 — 1GB of RAM, a 400MHz VideoCore IV graphics chip, 4 USB ports, a full-sized HDMI port, an ethernet port, a combined 3.5mm audio and composite video jack, and a microSD card slot — and of all that fits into a very similar form factor. …

Raspberry Pi 3 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a faster processor

Teaser confirms camera-centric Oppo R9

Oppo has released a new teaser that confirms the existence of the rumored R9 smartphone. It seems to be a camera-centric device given that the Chinese text in the teaser translates as “This time, it is worth and other ‘9’ point. #OPPO New camera phone R9 #.”

Sadly nothing else was revealed, but given that the Chinese company has finally confirmed the handset, we expect to see more teasers and leaks in the coming days. A leak last year suggested that the device looks almost identical to the iPhone 6s Plus.

Specs-wise, from what all has been rumored until now, the Oppo R9 will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC and sport a 6-inch (1440 x 2560 pixel resolution) display. It will come with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable internal memory.

In terms of camera, the handset will feature 21MP rear unit and a 13MP front shooter. Packing in a 3,700 mAh battery, the R9 will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow…

When Sam Smith took the stage to accept his first-ever Oscar for Spectre’s “Writing’s On the Wall,” he referenced an article in which Sir Ian McKellan stated that an openly gay man has never won the Oscar for Best Actor.

According to Smith’s speech, though, it seemed like the singer thought that McKellan had meant no openly gay man has won an Oscar ever. “I don’t know if that’s true or not,” Smith admitted on the stage.

Well, turns out it definitely isn’t.

Elton John won the same award Smith took home — Best Original Song — in 1995 for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (Lion King).

And more recently, Milk scribe Dustin Lance Black won the Oscar in 2009 for Best Original Screenplay. …
