Ed Sheeran has hit a new Spotify milestone

His hit “Thinking Out Loud” is the first song to ever reach 500 million streams on the popular music service

“Chuffed to hear that ‘Thinking Out Loud’ has had half a billion plays on Spotify,” Sheeran said in a release. “Being the first artist to hit that milestone is amazingThanks to all the people who use this as a wedding song, soundtrack to a date and as a way to woo someone into a Netflix-and-chill situation.”

Along with that achievement, data from Spotify shows just how insanely popular Sheeran is on the streaming service. About one in four Spotify users has one of his songs in at least one playlist, and overall, his songs have been streamed about 2.8 billion times.
