After years and years of consumers clamoring for ala carte access to their favorite channels, the walls are starting to come down.
Be careful what you wish for – because choice might turn out to have a daunting number of variables.
This week Verizon did the once unthinkable and broke its bundle. Not down to a channel by channel choice, but a series of slim packages that give consumers more choice – and even some potential savings.
No doubt the Verizon move is driven in part by the number of customers voting with their credit cards and signing up for Netflix, HBOnow, and Dish Network’s Sling TV offering.
Verizon FiOS president Tami Erwin told CNBC that the offering isn’t so much for existing FiOS customers as to attract new customers to the service. - Source
