Disproven: Rafts on the cell membrane

Proteins and lipids have been assumed to move through cell membranes as ‘nano rafts’. This ‘raft hypothesis’ has now been disproved by scientists. “We should not think of the cell membrane as a static, solid surface,” says one author of the study. “The membrane, the outermost layer of the cell, is fluid. Its molecules — lipids and proteins — are constantly in motion.” - Source
